What is "shadow banking" and why does it have the potential to wipe out economies like the Bahamas?? mostly by overexposing them to credit. How many web shops are involved in shadow banking?
The credibility of this man is incredible. First he is saying the entire area of the dump has been covered but they are still "covering minor pockets of smoke." Second why was there a need to cover the "entire 17 acres of the dump" in relation to the fire. Under proper management wasn't waste matter on the dump supposed to be covered with fill to prevent these fires? This raises the question of the dump being "conveniently " set on fire by 'unknown persons', "who set fires in different areas of the dump." And while there may be other fires on other properties emanating smoke, it is the smoke from the dump that has blanketed half the island for most of the year and made hundreds of people sick and having to seek medical attention.
All I cud say is save your pennies ,try pay off any debt you have and don't incur any additional loans. The worst is yet to come, not just for the Bahamas but globally. Watch the Chinese and see what they are doing amen
How many politicians are on this list and have not yet revealed their assets? Or have not told the truth about their net worth? What should be their fate?
Word is that certain newspaper is trying to get a list of the 55 Bahamian residents or passport holders who have $7 billion statched in a certain Swiss bank that has been " hacked". Will anyone on the list shock you?
While VAT has been successfully introduced the proof of the pie will be in the eating over the next 6 - 12 months and even beyond that. VAT has effectively reduced the purchasing power of everyone residing in the Bahamas by at least 7.5%. It will also be drawing 7.5 cents of every dollar spent out of the economy. In real terms this means that if there is no corresponding growth then the economy will decline. Businesses are already indicating that sales for the latter half of January and the first part of February are down. How does government intend to stimulate the economy to reduce unemployment and generate growth? Ok so there is Bah Mar and Junkanoo Carnival. And some other events but government also need to stimulate economic activity on the family islands and generate inter-island commerce. No mail boat should leave New Providence and go to a Family Island and return empty. The BAMSI project should have incorporated existing farms and unemployed persons. Get them to increase their yields and employ temporary workers.
Has John Pinder ever ran a business in his life? Or has he ever had serious conversation with anyone who is in business? A minimum wage of $350 a week will paralise this country to the max. Imagine janitresses, filing clerks and messengers and filing clerks earning this salary. Then imagine the food stores the fast food restaurants gas stations and other retail stores trying to pay entry level employees this amount. John Pinder is way out of touch. Minimum wage should be around $175.00 per week. And don't tell me about the single mother with three children: she has options make the daddy's pay child support (2) improve her own learning skills (3) do not have three kids while you still earning minimum wage!
BTC has basically ignored its fixed line service over the past several years in favor of the more lucrative mobile market. My phone was out since June of last year. They kept promising to send a technician but he never showed up. When I called for repairs for the hundredth time in September they told me I had to come and pay three months rental on the account in order for them to make repairs. (The phone was off since June.) So I made the payment and eventually the technician showed up and told me I had to get an electrician to run new wires in the house (the house was practically new). So we got an electrician and changed all the wires but the phone came on but went back off after only a few hours. This was the problem we were having initially. So when I called repairs to make the complaint again, I was told that I had to come in and make another payment before they could effect repairs. So we've been without phone service since June of last year and without internet and phone since September and BTC's concern is only collecting payment rather than restoring service to its customers. (I asked why was I paying for phone/internet service that I was not receiving and was politely told that once BTC delivers the signal to your house,' you have to pay for it wether you use it or not never mind that the phone signal is not on your phone or the internet on your computer.) let the competition begin!
This man is dangerous. To deny that the smoke that has been covering the Western part of the island for the past several weeks is not coming from his dump is a pile of garbage. One can stand in the early morning or evening and see the fire on the dump. The smoke gets caught up in the damp night air and settles over the island like a wet smoky blanket nd now this clown gonna lie and say it ain't his smoke.
