The Bahamas now ranks with Kingston, Jamaica for the number of murders per capita. Last year Kingston had 465 murders among its population of 1.2 million people. The Bahamas recorded 120 murders last year among a population of 350,000 persons.
So maybe it is now time to follow the money trail in the Bahamas and find out who is really behind the illegal drugs and weapons and gang banging. If the police and the prosecutors and the community can work together to identify them and flush them out and get them before the courts and behind bars, then peace will return to our streets and we will stop losing so many young men to murder.
The district attorney for New York was on tv a few nights back explaining how that city managed to reduce crime, including murder, to its lowest level in TEN years. The key to success was cooperation between the police, the prosecutors and the community. He explained how once a person was arrested on a major felony a grand jury would be empaneled and they would have to convince the jury that they had sufficient evidence to prosecute. Once the ok was given they had six months so bring the person(s) to trial. So many times he found himself having to juggle cases to get ones that would make a significant impact on crime before the courts. Or ones that involved high profile or notorious criminals or others that involved large sums of money. They disbanded some 24 gangs in New York and while the age most of the gang members was between 16 and 21, the leader of the gang was usually some notorious criminal involved in high level crimes like drug dealing prostution selling illegal weapons or a scam artist. Once they got that person off the street the gang usually disbanded. While cocaine use is on a decline and probably at its lowest level since before it became popular in the 1980's prescription drugs like Xanax and codine have become popular. So they now have to go after people who write fake prescriptions or rob pharmacies to get these drugs.
You would think they would try to settle a dispute like this privately rather than involving the law, especially if the young man charged was not the one who recorded the complainant having sex with another man. Then a whole career is destroyed.
Obviously your English is failing you. Not rage is talking about the police force of which he is in charge of. So the collective "we" refers to the police force under his command.
when barak obama stood up to give the state of the nation address two nights ago the main message he sent to the Republicans, who now control the house and the senate, is that he is still," the head nigga in charge!" And despite his pomp and cockiness Obama had every right to say what he said. You see America is in one of their best economic seasons in over a decade. Gas prices are down by 50% and the supply is plenty, employment is up above pre-recession levels, American business, including the automoblie and banking industries that Obama bailed out, are booming, the stock market is continuing to set new records and American confidence has been restored. CRIME and the number of persons going to jail in America is down! So when OBAMA stood up and said if they send *any* bill across his desk that attempts to undo the policies he put in place to get the economy going or to unravel Obamacare, he will veto them. He knew he has the nation rallying behind him and he was not speaking for himself. Unlike Christie, OMAMA believed in the American people and the American worker and the American industries. He sought to fix the things that were broken in America. Christie sought to go abroad to find solutions for the Bahamian problem. His government is rocked with scandal after scandal, scam after scam. So while OBAMA saw his economy get better and his employment rates go up and his need to tax the working class American diminish Christie is plagued with a stagnant, if not sinking economy, the unemployment rate is higher now than when he took office and yes, he has to saddle the Bahamian people with the VAT(ican) tax. CRIME is still the order of the day and many criminal roam around free on bail. If Christie had put as much trust in his family (nepotism) as he did with his cronies, then maybe he would not be in this predicament. You see Christie is related to the McCartney's, The Allen's, The Carey's The Thompson's who all are industrious people, hardworking and full of entrepreneurial spirit. Even if he had gone to some of them for advice. But half way through his second term, he has ignored them again. They and the people of South Eleuthera continue to suffer. How long now o prime minister?
