@Rory and @SP, if the average Bahamian cannot discern any qualitative differences between Kerzner and Nygard, as you two seem to suggest, then I am afraid we will all be doomed as a people.
Sol Kerzner has invested over a billion dollars in this country, how much has Nygard invested. To compare Kerzner to Nygard makes very little sense for lack of using a stronger description.
This murder like the other 89 this year are all tragic, sad and belittles each and every member of our society. However, for our PM to state and I quote, "and to all of our countrymen and women who oftentimes tend to believe that it is just those people over there who become perpetrators and victims and never us. But this now is another reminder that one of us has been killed”, should be an affront to every Bahamian. I don't know who those countrymen or women are that the PM speak of or which country they live in because every Bahamian that I know live each day in fear that their life or the life of their loved ones can be usurped at the whim of someone else in our society. Mr. PM, in case you were asleep, 90 of "us" have been murdered this year. The proper application of the Rule of Law does not make allowances for "them" and "us" and until we as a society understands this our daily fears and our murder numbers will continue to increase.
If we judge impact by the number of persons at the funeral or gravesite then we would be compelled to surmise that the life and death of Jesus Christ was not impactful. But therein lies our real issue!
Are you kidding me! We are all members of a much more important party called the Bahamian Society and we should spend more of our energies uplifting that party. Until we stop dividing ourselves into small little insignificant fiefdoms called political parties and following men who are themselves blind we will continue to be caught in our vicious cycle of not so quiet desperation. Societal change is the responsibility of every member of the society and our deeply flawed leaders are not even role models in their own homes much less society.
But why should any one murder be more meaningful than the almost 90 that preceded this one? They were all someone's friend, father, son, daughter etc. and each one of them diminishes our whole society.
@Banker while you are on a roll please help me with the meaning of "true gladiatorial fashion" because I can't stop laughing to myself every time I think about that phrase. What kind of man says this to a female?
