I "renewed" my card the other day and got a decal stuck to it. My thing is, the amount of money spent on implementing these cards only to make them good for 1 year???????? It makes absolutely NO sense and NIB has realised it too. Just a year too late and many more dollars at our expense. The cards should be good for 5 years and a replacement fee charged if lost etc. We cannot keep making these errors.
Let's spell this out for those in the back... Marijuana is an industry, a very lucrative one. Its going to be imperative that we legalise medicinal cannabis in the very near future. Why would I vacation in a place that treats my medicine as something illegal? I'll pay more and go to Jamaica or St Vincent where cannabis has been decriminalised. We cannot afford to miss out on this new economy. Let's stop the black market trade that enriches criminals and create new jobs, AND bring in tax revenue for Education and Health. It's a no-brainer for anyone with a brain...
38 years is long enough to have a rescue team that could have found the plane and been recovering it from the following morning. If HeadKnowles can find it with amateurs in 40 minutes, what does that say about our Defense Force? I cry shame on the RBDF. Apologise for your total ineptude. They have proven that they would not be able to find a rubber ducky in a bathtub.
Minnis took 16 people to the UN? Sure its a perk so you want your wife to come... But more than one aide and more than one Police? It's ludicrous, but we must tighten our belts and pay more VAT? Minnis is out of his mind. The Bahamas is a tiny country, if we have talented people in Government, 6 of them should've been enough including Mrs Minnis. I hope Tamika's husband paid for her... hahahahaha Just another albatross around our necks. Did Minnis even give the speech?? Oh right...no.
Thank you Ms Moultrie... I agree with your position on this. When will we start understanding that our Bahama Islands are priceless? Disney will do what it has done in the past, abandon the location and leave their mess behind. Great Guana Cay is an example of that. In Grand Bahama they built a large concrete area, sunk a shipping container into the ground changing the shape of the coastline for the Pirates of the Caribbean films then left that behind. How many times do we let them come in and do whatever they want? We know their track record. #noto3for10tourists #notoDisney
How about rolling out a preventative program focused on making sure people don't get kidney failure? Sounds to me that some resources need to be thrown at that...
These are desperate times for the Bahamas... We need revenue, more than anything. This BCC guy needs to relax and check his hypocrisy medication. The former government went against the people's no vote and what happened? Stunned silence from the BCC. Why weren't they chaining themselves to the doors of the number houses which multiplied like a virus in every corner of our archipelago? Where were the protests and press releases against the government then? Now the legislation has already been passed to legalise gaming and a National Lottery might be able to pay for Education (ideally) or at least help the govt to pay civil servants without borrowing money every month and this man has the gall to speak now? A day late and millions of dollars short!
@John you make very salient points. Unfortunately the truth of the matter will always come out if you follow the money. Who owns the Independence shopping centre? Who would benefit from a post office being placed there? Why is it more advantageous to put the post office at Town Centre Mall? Will it mean better service or mail sorting systems? If it is the same people running the show, I think not. I have toured the main post office and it is deplorable. I have sent mail to relatives from overseas that has never arrived. If we don't all agree that the system needs a complete overhaul and modernization we will get nowhere. The building is only half the problem. Might as well throw the mail into the wind and hope for the best...
John, imagine if there was some kind of ambitious/radical solarization scheme in the works for the Bahamas! I for one like the plan that makes BEC/BPL redundant. It goes like this... Government offers some kind of rebate or subsidy on solar panels, every house that can afford it has it installed, the GRID is brought up to standard to accept grid tie in, demand on BPL is less, people have more money to spend on food and entertainment, economy starts moving, small businesses start hiring, BEC can retire the bunker C generators, they can also stop polluting the Earth at Clifton. #winning Any idea why this can't happen?
