Greeting, shaking hands w a murderer, a genocidal maniac, and author of a "bill to kill"....what is he doing here? Looking for recruits for her crimes against humanity program? Don't let me run into this despicable monster.

Pot holes, pot holes every where on cat island. And every day commuters drive the perilous streets at their own risk. Same way in the other family islands. My deepest sympathy goes out to the families on the tragic deaths of the young men who were killed in Acklins.

This is an honest letter that gets right to the point. Surrey horses carriages are a relic of the past. This is no longer an exotic ride through exotic old town streets. It is a foolish, dangerous and cruel activity. Where have the dive boys gone...the ones who jumped off Prince George Dock for shiny tourist coins? Surrey horse ride needs to go the same way, away for good. The masters of these neglected horses need to find an activity that does not perpetrate the abuse common here throughout these islands. No matter how one may want to justify it, abusing an animal is a crime and those who permit it are as culpable as the abuser.

Don't hold your breath for "widespread reform." And I absolutely agree w the two comments above. Its time or the Bahamas to go on record as animal friendly and humane. "Animals cannot speak, but can you and I not speak for them and represent them ... The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated" ~ Gandhi ...

Do most Bahamians have no shame? Look at these half dead horses dressed in blue, black and gold hats. Bahamian pride? Look at the dilapidated surreys on congested down town streets. Bahamian pride? Listen to the surrey drivers who sound like automated recordings, who can hardly converse to be understood. Bahamian pride? Is this what Tourism is selling? Shame!

And how many horses on Cat Island have perished from neglect? Many. The latest fatality is Gretchen, a 35+ year old horse adopted by Halvorson House. But she was left to fend for herself...with no food, water or shelter. She was struck and killed on the street, on the night of Septeber 23, 2013. The vehicle was damaged but the occupants escaped serious injury.
