The pandemic and hurricane certainly put a wrinkle in any economic promises but that still leaves everything else he promised. Storms and viruses do not stop Minnis from enacting term limits, cracking down on waste and corruption, etc... But then again we are talking about politicians here. They have an impossible time walking and chewing gum at the same time because they're too busy scheming self enrichment.
Completely agree. Making monuments and historical sites is all very nice but our current debt is a more immediate problem. The government doesn't have to sell the land to the cruise line. A long term lease would be just as good.
"The government stepping in" is what is causing all these issues. WSC hasn't paid their bill in months and they expect for private companies to just keep going. What happens when we don't pay our government bills for months on end? Disconnection plain and simple. WSC and BPL are just disgusting examples of what happens when government runs the show.
This is what you get when you have decades of moronic leadership. In my opinion this is just the beginning. Our country's infrastructure has been on a steady decline and things are just going to get worse. WSC, BPL, etc... they are all companies with a monopoly on what they do but still they cannot make money or even break even. Next election we have the choice of re-electing Minnis who has shown he has no clue what he's doing or Davis who just waiting for his turn to fill his pockets. The future looks bleak.

That probably the 'risk premium' demanded by potential buyers. BPL/Bahamas ain't exactly what you would call a low risk investment.

So almost 60% of this new debt is going to be paying off old debt and the rest is being used to "upgrade existing infrastructure". Pathetic!
