It’s no wonder the OECD ain’t happy with us. The whole financial sector has been a smoldering pile of dung for many years now. Root causes are that nobody in government has the expertise to properly build and regulate this industry. All of the past “Finance Ministers” wouldn’t know a credit swap from a supermarket coupon. Combine that with complete lack of leadership from the central bank and what you have is today’s mess.
Every government since the Pingdomite rule has had a chance to transform Bay Street into something really spectacular. They all lacked vision and enough brain cells to create a spark. You are absolutely right when you say "you reap what you sow".
If what you say is true than I think the government should hold a national referendum. Once all the numbers are firm and the rest of deal is worked out, let the people decide whether or not to go go ahead.
Wasn't she the one who tried running some many years back? I remember rumors about her campaign handing out all kinds of "gifts" to ensure a "positive attitude". Then after she lost, there were rumors about her staff going door to door trying to confiscate the "gifts" back.
Obviously some people just can't understand or don't listen. I got no problem if they choose to endanger themselves but, by extension, they are also going to endanger others if they get infected. Fines ain't doing it. I say bring back the Cat O' Nine and see if that's more of an incentive to be smart.
