As the old saying goes, you can boil a frog alive if you bring up the temperature slowly enough.

Even if these shootings are all drug/gang related, the problem has always been of innocent people getting caught in the shootings. Unfortunately the police only react to these events. Start a serious crime prevention program and stick to it for the long term. Night time road checks, gang task force, undercover patrols, etc...

Obviously one size does not fit all. Granting bail for capital crimes should be on a case to case basis. Past criminal record, standing in the community, gang affiliations, circumstances of the alleged crime and so on. Unfortunately bail seems to be granted almost as a default right now without any regard to the above.

I agree with you and have been planting my own greens on and off for years. But realistically it's a hobby and makes for a few meals at best. Most people don't have the room, skill and time to actually plant enough to feed themselves for the long term.

When policies fail and officials are clueless on how to proceed, that's when the government tells the people to grow their own food.
