I would hope that that both parties conduct themselves with honour over the next few days, but with Pindling being a PLP appointee, the FNM in the midst of a coup, if I were Christie, I would call a snap election.
I would suggest to Mr. Henfield, that his passion not be removed from this movement. This is a time for passion, and a misstep here or there is bound to occur, and can be forgiven. To have Sam Duncombe, Lemarque Campbell, and ORG by one’s side is to have a rich group of advisors and compatriots to call upon, but Mr. Henfield is the face of We March Bahamas, and a very welcome one at that. So take a breath Mr. Henfield, and continue. “The struggle itself toward the heights is enough to fill a man's heart. One must imagine Sisyphus happy.”
Why not hold a traditional debate? It should be televised, both sides should include a constitutional scholar, and the Constitution should be viewable via something like Powerpoint, so the experts can literally point to the relevant parts of it when needed. A roundtable “discussion” without experts will surely deteriorate into speculative bickering about everything under the sun.
"In particular, Mr Andrawos said the Government’s legal representative, the Attorney General’s Office, failed to show that Blackbeard’s Cay’s marine park and tourist attraction “was a world-class facility” and among the best in the Caribbean."
It's not too late, I'm sure Allyson Maynard Gibson would be more than happy to don her Junkanoo Carnival outfit again and pose for a few promotional shots with those happy dolphins.
As the law presently stands, a foreign spouse of a Bahamian woman may aquire the right to work in the Bahamas after a short amount of time, and then may aquire permanent residency after a period of five years of residency in The Bahamas. Any “influx” has already happened, or is occurring as we speak. The Department of Immigration already has a system in place to verify the legitimacy of these marriages. No new flood-gates will suddenly open as the result of a yes vote in the upcoming referendum, and not to dent Bahamian pride too much, but the number of foreigners educated enough to take away decent jobs from Bahamians may not be as eager to move here as many would like to believe. In fact, many Bahamians themselves see a proper education as their ticket out of The Bahamas.
January is the Christmas season. February has Lent. March has Easter. April has Palm Sunday and Passover. May has Pacha and Pentecost. June has Ramadan, another Pentecost, and All Saints. July has St. Benedict’s Day and the birthday of Emperor Haile Selassi. August 15 is the Assumption of Blessed Virgin Mary. September 8 is the Nativity of Virgin Mary and has an equinox. October has St Francis Day, The Blessing of the Animals, Yom Kippur, and Diwali. November begins with All Saints Day, and on the 27‘th, Advent begins. December has Christmas. 2017 anyone?
Much of the supplies to rebuild will come from beyond these shores. I would like to hear from government that all levies are to be suspended on these supplies. No duty. No VAT.
The AG is lamenting that her husband’s company is shouldering liability. That indicates that it would be in his best interest to get Baha Mar up and running, so that his company may begin to reap the profits that Baha Mar has to offer. The AG is heading government negotiations to get Baha Mar up and running as soon as possible to reap the profits that Baha Mar has to offer. Until the AG provides conclusive evidence that all assets of her family are exclusive from one another, serious questions about impropriety shall remain unanswered. I believe it to be paramount that Allyson Maynard Gibson prove to the people of The Bahamas that her finances have been, and shall always remain untethered from those of any family member in regard to any investment in Baha Mar.
