Wow. POV from a Miami guy, who USED to come to the Bahamas at least once a week.
The Bahamas seems to be trying to kill tourism by suicide. I don't get it. All the steps, fees and the ridiculous VAT to come and go now make coming to The Bahamas too much of a hassle to even bother with it. This is self inflicted by the greed The Bahamas gov't.
Myself and at least a dozen others I know would come over at least once a week and pour money into the economy eating at restaurants, shopping, staying in the hotels, diving, boating and all that fun stuff. Now, it's a pain in the ass to get there and even a pain to LEAVE. I personally got tired of being pissed off at getting fleeced every time I came, so I said "screw it."
Nowadays, we just go to Key West. It's cheaper and they have more to offer anyway.
