Yes, the premiums do increase and they increase in line with the medical costs. Do you think for one second Tal that once GHI starts they won;t start racheting up the premiums too. I don't know what experience this negativity about private health comes from but when Bahama Health shells out 100,000.00 for me and another 100,000.00 for my wife I have a boatload of loyalty to them. This is for surgery at a hospital in Fort Lauderdale that is a palace compared to PMH. My employees can go to PMH if the Government push ahead with this but I will stay with private coverage thanks very much. You pay for what you get and you get what you pay for. Simple !
I have been told personally that this business is the biggest problem that the US Embassy has in this Country. If I was told, then the Minister was also told, and probably the PM also. She cannot regulate Bahamians driving cars, nor can the Police. The Defense Force cannot stop a Haitian sloop till it hits Yamacraw Beach, so who the hell does she think she is fooling saying they will get the Police and Defense Force to help. Stop regulating it and close the business down. If not the US Government will close us down. Stupidity is the Mother of Calamity ! It is amazing that a handful of these water rats can have so much political pull that the Government won't do what has to be done. Hard to believe. But look at the web shops. They running the Government now.
Forget enhancing anything. Ban these things completely. They will deatroy this industry for all Bahamians. How can a tourist yell the difference between a licenced jet ski operator and a non licenced one.
marrcus clip is from 2008 but today's Tribune headline ( not up yet ) is another damning report for our tourism industry. Hanna-Martin better smell the coffee before Wilchcombe has no Tourism product to Minister to. And the speeders will have no gas for their cars, and drunk drivers won't be able to buy liquor and the unwed mothers will have to eat their babies just to sustain their own lives. This country is in deep doo-doo and everyone in Cabinet and the House is asleep. Or having "teachable moments" but we are all in the same leaky, sinking boat.
