It will be very interesting to see if Jamaica's fortunes have significantly improved beyond ours. Jamaica has just raised USD 2 Billion in two International Bond Offerings to pay off its PetroCaribe Debt. If we have trouble raising 120 mil, which I think is very likely then we will have slipped far below Jamaica in International standing and creditworthiness. 1.35bn @ 6.75% and 650 mil at 7.87 % for 30 years. Not great by any means, given the very low cost of money, but lets see what Bahamasair can scare up and for how much. Whatever it is they should NOT have bought these planes. They need to liquidate that damned thing and they could look after the destitute sick and dying with the money saved there.
For a man with significant influence in the PLP this is quite strange. Every now and then one bank or another publishes what looks to be a voters list, but is instead a defaulters list of distressed properties being sold because the borrower can't pay. Yet Snake's political party has allowed, (against the public's wishes), and regulated the "web-shops" that suck up every last dollar from the pockets of the Bahamian populace. The little bit left is then swallowed up by VAT, and now they want to take the rest in NHI premiums. And he wonders why they can't but a lot from Arawak Homes ?. And for Regardless benefit you might ask what he owed when he left Touche Ross. Sometimes glitter is only shit in the Sunshine.
Perry Christie has foreshadowed.... but .... The only thing that the Perry Christie's administration has accomplished in its first three and a half years in office is to totally disrupt and nearly bankrupt the Bahamas economy. Perry is a lawyer who knows zero about finance or a nations economy, yet he gives this crucial job to himself. What a joke he is.
