we are not misinformed!!! Parents will continue to protest until a favorable response is received. We are frustrated at always receiving the short end of the stick when it comes to our children's education. The Ministry needs to find a different approach to this issue. The current system is messed up enough. The transfer of this teacher is not only detrimental to the students but you are asking a teacher who has already began the school year ( 2nd year at this school ) , developed a relation with her students ( 5 grades - BJC and BGCSE students ) to now uproot herself and family ( sensitive issue please research ) and move to another school. Students in different streams will now have to be combined. Those who will need more one on one hands on approach will now have to get it the first time or DOG eat your lunch. On the issue of teacher shortage in the field of science, no teacher in a pertinent area such as computer ( this is the Electronic age ), and no teachers in vocational areas, what are our students who are not book savvy going to do? There is very little choice here... Agriculture and Craft? The young men of this nation are headed in the wrong direction as is. We are suppose to be helping the situation not adding to it. How are some of our students going to be able to survive when they graduate and have to compete against the students in Nassau or other island who are equipped or in some cases overly equipped to meet the demands needed to receive quality college education or finding a good job? Can you imagine going to COB and hearing students say - well i studied Latin, Chemistry, Physics etc in high school when you had the privilege ( or not so privileged ) of maybe Spanish in grade 8? find a solution!!! Bring the Brits back, rehire retired teachers if need be, start a teacher cadet program in all schools. just simply get it right or central androsians will continue to march. b.p Primary is next. P.S: On another thought we had 3 students who competed in Carifta this year...not my beloved comrades in the North. We had students who competed in the IAAF's Relays this year ( high school sessions ). They were kicked out of their hotel room on the last day... could not compete ( LOC get it right the next time ). We need our very own Ministry of Sports School Rep in Central Andros!
