Interestingly enough some citizens who do not pay their bills have flashy cars and trucks or take frequent trips to Miami, before paying bills. With regard to the government shortage of money in my experience the previous deputy director would have a nice trip to Cuba to hire teachers whilst unemployed Bahamian teachers are waiting and waitingto be employed, or the mad cap schemes such an paying an american company to initiate a computerised report card system ( now defunct) for MOE schools or even better the scheme paid for to have all practical subjects on a rotating subject system, so students did woodwork, then all changed to do Tech drawing, then cookery and so on. Reps came over from the USA, free tee shirts etc.Never worked because it necessitated a large building so subjects could be taught each module . Another expensive scheme abandoned. Failed hospital in Palmetto Point where at great expense purchase of land from local MP and clearing created nothing more than a huge pile of curry. So many ill thought out schemes paid for and abandond is one part of why the Bahamas is somdeep in debt.
Love it after all the cash squandered by the previous PLP.. "reduce inefficiency and waste". Mr Cooper do you remember the lavish plans, months of heavy equipment use, several visits by Perry Christie and countless other functionaries, the ground breaking ceremony, buying the land from an ex PLP cabinet member and what is there to show for it a huge pile of curry a flat area surrounded on three sides by cliff faces a dissapointed PLP supporter who had the building contract and no hospital in Palmetto Point. All the while workers house largely empty with great parking, great location and accomodation upstairs for nurses and doctors was ignored simply because there was little political mileage tp be gained from a conversion as opposed to this grandiose hospital which believe it or not included a helipad. Tell us Mr Cooper how much was wasted on this one PLP project
If this gets away from you then the financial cost will be enormous and hopefully the PLP will put aside their political differences because no country and the associated expense could have foreseen this happening.and the impact. If countries in Europe including the UK are looking at bleak financial damage imagine what the effect will be on the Bahamas alread deep in debt along with a. seriously bad power generation system.
How about this stupid idea of employing Cuban teachers who beside the financial cost often cannot speak reasonable english let alone have the interests of the kids at heart. Why is this continuing when Cuban teachers sole aim is to repatriate as much in the way of USD back to Cuba. Time to employ Bahamians especially in the vocational subjects perhaps using BTVI final year students. Every dollar saved is important.
Funnily enougjh when there is a good crop, or someone is cured by medical intervention credit goes to God, but when everything goes wrong even the death of an innocent newborn child, suddenly its not God but mans doing. Can' t have it both ways.
Better still take to court all the corrupt inept pok iticians who spent money like it was going out of fashion on all sorts of madcap ideas, and now the public have to pay. Bet Mrs Pindling has enough cash left by her deceased husband ,maybe she could make a donation.

And Bahamians still donate to these churches and many not all pastors live the good life. Wake up people, religion is a business.
