Always afyer the fact added to which how can the country possibly fund raising/improving sea walls for all the islands let alone Nassau and Grand Bahama ?
You can quote all the biblical texts you like but at the end of the day dimissing all these disasters and personal tragedies as " its Gods plan" make absolutely no sense.
Granted prayers bring folk together and help bolster moral for many but the power of so many prayers asking for protection, etc every minute of every day never seems to prevent these disasters from happening yet we ascribe a sudden illness recovery or good harvest to a higher power. How can a higher power be it God or another religion seem to be able to select when to excercise that power ?
Obviously the fact that this poor woman was bleeding to death and someone thought filming was more important than medical action or even googling what to do. Yes a tourniquet particulaily on the arm along with pressure applied to the would would have in all probability have kept her alive until the paramedicsarrived but often in the press or on other social platforms the public is told that use of a tourniquet is not used today, whilst not explaining that a tourniquet can be used in a life saving emergency but must be released periodically to allow blood to flow to the injured limb.
Rotary is a great organisation with well established goals to benefit many, however the description of peoples perception of rotary of it being a group of old white men sitting around a table is truly incorrect, however there are some in rotary who view belonging to this organisation as a social plus and many local groups strive to do all sorts of activities with no regard to established charities or community activities simply to pad their annual report and raise their visibility in the overall Bahamian rotary community.
years of lack of investment and despite blaming the FNM give thought to which party held the reigns of power after independence and for the majority of the years since. Which party despite having crown land available purchased a hill in Palmetto Point and paying a fortune for cutting the hill down, numerous expensive ministerial visits to the site, paying for expensive plans for a hospital that could not be afforded and never to be built. Add this hair brained scheme to many others throughout the Bahamas and just maybe you would have funds to renew the vital electrical supply an benefit the many rather than the few.
Fiscal responsibility is a joke with most governments, but Fred will say anything to get his free travel, expensive hotels and allowances back. Remember all the trips to China, first class, top hotels etc etc whilst poor Bahamians struggled to put food on the table or have electricity. Fiscal responsibility is paid for by the middle class and the cream is still fed to the politicians and their cronies.
Get real all of you putting a political slant on a water leak. In every country and supposed first world countries there are failures despite millions being spent, particularily in the aviation and defence industries. Brand new cars fail is that the PLP or FNM fault, your new house can have a plumbing or electrical fault is that a political doing. Anyway a more important issue is under PLP or FNM the post office has always been a disgrace, lost mail, stolen periodicals to the extent that it just isn't worth sending anything of importance through the Bahamian mail system.
Why would anyone aspire to be in these powerful positions in any party in any country.Simple power and the ability to enrich oneself either in office or after. Look at Christie, Pindling, Tony Blair just to name a few who have risen to the top of the gravy train. We the electorate are simply voting fodder to help them on enriching their career paths.
