Common Banker, white collar workers and politicians rarely go to jail wheras the common man or poor Bahamians get put in Fox Hill at the drop of a hat.
URCA needs to look at Cable Bahamas which knowingly charges for internet service on one family island , charges for speeds of 70mbs and actually provides less than 6 mbs -that is when it works. Not speculation but technicians evaluation.
Lot of disinformation going around and I wonder whether these three students have been persuaded to become activists on behalf of adults. The south needs jobs and at least 150 are offer, access will be maintained for all and I wonder why the same fuss was not made about Princess Keys. Yes preserve the island as far as possible but I really wonder how many including these three students ever visited Lighthouse point before this and how much influence the very rich of Cotton Bay are exerting. Maybe One SOUTH Eleuthera could state their position ?
As a long serving teacher it is often obvious that parents that care often have children that do well. So many times have I seen boys in particular playing basketball at 11.30 pm when they have a BGCSE exam the next day. Extra curricular activities from Bands ,Sports, visiting speakers and "fun days" all deprive students of valuable learning time. Finally why did the previous deputy Director of Education go to such lengths to recruit Cuban teachers when the teaching talent existed here. Cuban teachers rarely integrate into the community, spend as little as possible, have no real reason to perform as they go home at the end of a contract with I phones, tools and other goodies whatever their results.
The cost of airfares FROM the Bahamas is beyond a joke and in part due to the usual high taxation on the tickets. Look at any Jet Blue cost going from and coming to the Bahamas. You can fly return from MIA to London return for around $500 today yet BA from Nassau to London is in excess of $1100. Nothing but nothing in the Bahamas focuses on lowering prices with lots of talk but no real action. Consider a family holiday to Eleuethera. Silver airways $350 -$1200 hotel room $150 -$500 a night. Average meal for one in restaurant with a drink $100 + 30 % tax. We have breathtaking beaches and friendly people but there are similar places all over the world a great deal cheaper.+
Check any Bahamian dictionary the words government maintenance do not exist .Furthermore when we have at least one school in the Bahamas with a roof that has leaked like a sieve for over 10 years, a clinic that does not have basics like printer ink/ear drops or blood pressure medicine and roads that have holes that break axles and you wonder why we have fourth world voodoo economics in these grandiose nonsensical vote getting schemes.
Its a fact that should you want to murder someone with a gun or knife and get caught you are going to Fox Hill for a long time.Much better to kill them with your car as the price of a human life then is $5000 fine. Fact.
In my career I have seen vulgar, unqualified employees promoted simply because they had a relative in a position of power or their political loyalty. In fact given my time again and realising that hardwork, punctuality, dedication mean nothing I would take sick days, get sick slips from the GP even if I wasn't ill, and not volunteer for any thing.
