Nothing new with that threat. Mail has been undelivered, periodicals and foreign newspapers stolen for over 20 years/ Bahamas mail is a totally unreliable waste of money and time.
Rightly or wrongly at least this government has the moral fortitude to consider changes after criticism . The PLP never listened to anybody - remember the gambling referendum as one example.
Of course there is a good reason. Think that if a bank receives say $ 500,000 in foreign cheques every month and withholds payment for this ridiculous 30 days then its free money for them. Absolutely no reason otherwise why a cheque takes 30 days to clear with modern computerized systems.
So I guess the immigration officers must shout "please stop Mr Hatien" and then let them go if they run away. Difficult job to exercise compassion whilst dealing with potential law breakers.
Oh my another racist rant. For the record in teaching most foreign teachers, and there are not many if you exclude the Deputy Directors love of Cubans are usually excluded from any positions of authority, or extra earnings. The few remaining foreigners have been here for many many years, built houses, buy Bahamian and still are discriminated against. If you went to the UK or USA as a nurse or teacher you would have the same rights as a native, Not so in the Bahamas where a foreign teacher who has given his life to the country , done everything and more than asked for has NO right to a teachers pension that his Bahamian colleague has. As for the BGCSE that was supposed to be entirely set, checked, and marked in the Bahamas over 17 years ago yet still the exams submitted to the UK do not reach the required standard . Blame the expatriate again ??????. Your racist and warped views are exactly what put off investors and prospective foreign homeowners coming here. It may surprise you to know that in the 21st century other countries recruit the best irrespective of nationality because it is recognized that one qualified individual can make a success and create hundreds of jobs.
Typical, we are independent and third world. Whilst successive governments (by far and wide PLP) have wasted money on ill thought out projects, bribes, inflated bids etc the infrastructure has been left to deteriorate. This government is saddled with years of PLP corruption ,inefficiency and cronyism and there are still dumb supporters who will vote PLP in the next election despite the overwhelming evidence of PLP mismanagement.
Why is the Director of Education still employed 2 years after 65 and sick. Notwithstading he has made no appreciable improvement in educational results. Pension of $50,000 ?????? try $16000 a year after 37 years???
