In most developed countries credit cards are issued free but not here, additionally why in this age of modern technology and instant communications does it take 20 working days to be credited with funds from an American cheque. The answer is obvious we are being taken for a ride because the banks use this period as free money to invest. An American cheque paid into my account today should allow me to use those funds at most in three days.

They are totally incapable of reducing expenditure and only want to heap more taxes on an already suffering public. It is really simple take more out of the economy to fund your wild schemes, political kickbacks and election nonsense and there is less to support businesses and then more companies large and small, stop trading and then less taxes are collected. The infrastructure electrical, water and airports are all decaying and yet we never save a penny. I have to laugh when I see the recent PLP rallies with flags on the cars etc and wonder how many brain cells these supporters have and can they read.

Boundaries moved in central Eleuthera to favour home town boy "Butch Scavella". Potholes just fixed after months of axle breaking conditions. Food banks by volunteers for locals unable to feed themselves. Irregular electricity and water supplies. Sky high cost of living and the talk of downgrading and devaluation being mentioned more and more so what is the true "!spirit of the nation" ? I would suggest Mr Christie that any thinking person finds the economy rather depressing with no improvement in sight

Really interesting that when there were (as in the past) hurricane free years we never hear the insurance industry say " last year there were no catastrophic claims therefore we reducing premiums by a little ?? However get one hurricane and we are quickly able to raise rates.Already unaffordable I see more and more people cancel their insurance.

This government is incapable of reducing expenditure and further downgrading is inevitable. Any rational person realizes that taxes need to be collected but object when the funds are wasted and not reinvested into the economy with better infrastructure. Already the so called middle class has less and less disposable income to support local businesses and given the blatant corruption high up and favouritism to party faithful is it any wonder that Mr and Mrs average try their best to avoid paying all the taxes imposed.

"fuel and fleet savings" and you think that's great ??? Government cars being used as private transport evening and weekends. Top of the line special edition hard top Jeeps for Administrators, unpaid bills by prominent persons, purchase of land at rumoured cost of millions for a new hospital on a family island, mini hospital at a cost of 14 million on Exuma never opened, clinics without basic supplies or sometimes doctors. And rumors of VAT increases after the election. So much money is being extracted from the local population by taxes and price increases that little is left for the public to spend and grow the economy. Schools depend on fund raisers and tuck shops to buy basic supplies, and local businesses are inundated with requests from the private sector to support what the government should be doing. Unless government expenditure is curbed and quickly worse is to come.
