Another expensive taxpayer funded trip to China !. Given the power situation in N.P. how can this mammoth hotel be supplied with regular power or will it be at the expense of the local populace.
Meeting with the PM is not disrespectful simply a realistic understanding that it would simply be a waste of time and just the PM saying what he wanted the demonstrators to hear. On the other hand the list of demands is in my view far to extensive and should be shortened to the most important and critical issues such as transparency of government spending . They have ignored public sentiment for far to long and Fred Mitchells recent comment epitomizes what these men in power really think about the public. Oh and reducing the deficit is not the same as reducing the national debt ,all it really means is that we have increased our spending and the new found taxes have reduced the amount we have borrowed.
Such a good on point article. Donald Trump amongst all the garbage he spouted did point out that Hillary had 30 years in politics to do all the things she was now promising to do. The same applies to Christie who just spouts meaningless promises thinking that the electorate will accept and forget. Despite Fitzgerald lauding the grade D average in schools, times are different and the younger generation have more insight because of the media and social networks . Don't forget VAT is going up (as was always planned) and this extra cash will simply disappear into the consolidated fund once again.
Maybe they could start by thoroughly investigating how and who stole the huge amount of cash from road traffic , then cease to give contracts to PLP cronies including drug dealers . But as has been said they will delude the simple minded by spending vast sums in the run up to the election to keep their jobs. Interesting that they say they have reduced borrowing using VAT yet even an average person knows that reduced spending is also necessary if the books are to balance.
TaRussell, this is not about overturning a democratically elected government but clearly about getting those in power to realise that they work for the public and should listen and act accordingly. Lack of transparency indicates something to hide, vast sums of money are stolen and nothing happens, PLP supporters with criminal records are hired, fired and rehired but never prosecuted. Thank God that placid Bahamians are at least seeing the reality of how this country is being run into the ground.
