I am saving US dollars because the writing is on the wall. All our VAT, ludicrous hazardous waste taxes, extra customs charges, high airport taxes have gone to waste and this backward government still borrows. Maybe when (not if) devaluation comes Bahamians will protest with their feet and at last grow some balls. As it is the government benefits from the lack of understanding of these dire financial situation by the majority of the working class.
Consultants, consultants that's all we ever hear. How about a government plane to fly poor sick Bahamians to the capital. Currently on one family island it costs $3000 for a 20-30 minute flight.
The fact is that the Bahamas cannot compete with agricultural methods used in other countries. Furthermore look at the dairy farm in Hatchet Bay Eleuthera which went downhill after being Bahamianized. As for Sawyers and Alburys all it took was for some rapid action on the part of the Government to reduce duty on items imported by Alburys for production and increase duty on imported products . That way you save jobs.
Check out the corridor next to the next blood lad. Missing ceiling tiles, cardboard on floor and dripping water. Surely there is someone paid to oversee maintenance and fix these problems before they develop into something bigger.
How about an old sign in the local Customs office "from day one of the introduction of VAT the national debt will begin to be reduced " and government will reduce expenditure. So all the VAT money went into the consolidated fund and the government borrowed even more. Watch for VAT to go up after the election.
Forecast expenditure 7 million actual expenditure 9.8 million. As with every other financial action of this government a disaster. On a side note information in customs office to the effect that the national debt will start to decrease from day one of VAT implementation. Has that happenend ??? No, because they are incapable of reducing expenditure with the next down grade looming then devaluation.
What a joke, If a white person gets a position ahead of a Bahamian it is discrimination but when Bahamians are compensated before foreign workers it is OK. Discrimination is discrimination whichever way you package it. Absolutely bloody disgusting and third world micky mouse politics.
Education is a total mess, from the Minister stating weeks ago that all schools were ready to the lack of teachers in certain subject areas. One has to ask why on in many High Schools there are foreign teachers teaching subjects that a Bahamian could do, why teachers with poor examination results, poor timekeeping and frequent absences are seemingly protected from dismissal.
The reality is that they don't care, Even Darold Miller stated on Friday that watch how government spending dramatically increases in the run up to the election. This is the publics money squandered on everything and nothing . Ask yourself do these politicians so desperately want the job to serve or rather feather their own nests.
Unbelievable childish action from so called "professionals". Security applies to all including air crew. and all workers working in secure areas. Don't comply with international regulations and see how it affects every aspect of the Bahamian life. Isn't it bad enough that commercial air traffic is now flying to Cuba and many previously potential tourists contemplating coming here have given "Cuba a go".
