In think its time to stop being negative about the Police and whilst acknowledging that there are deficiencies to compliment them on this seizure. It also begs the question of how many "supposed" illegal immigrants that land and are quickly assimilated into the Hatien community are also drug mules ?
Sheeprunner, you are absolutely right. As a teacher in this country for 37 years Most Principles never submit accounts for school income or expenditure to the staff often saying it is non of their business. This is bull-- it as any monies collected from a tuck shop or school band is PUBLIC money and as such accounts should be given. Mind you whilst some departments languish for lack of supplies etc the Principles often use school funds for educational matters off the island.
Lets face it a very large percentage of pastors have little or no training in pastoral matters and are simply self trained and then giving themselves titles such as Bishop and so forth. As such they equate the ability to scream and shout from the alter using well worn biblical quotes as justifying their biased , controversial and often incorrect statements. How can some self taught pastor or a pastor who gained his credentials by mail ever hope to equal the training and by way of extension the ability to make educated comments, gained by years of study by Anglican or Catholic ministers ?
Utter uneducated nonsense, Incest is widespread in the Bahamas as are some members of the clergy leading immoral lives, but do you advocate them flying away, but wait it is tolerated as is violence in many homes.
What a great example our Minister of Education is to young people who I am sure preaches at numerous schools on how young Bahamians should conduct their life ,yet he basically says I can do what I like. How ignorant. As for Mitchell maybe he would like to disclose exactly how much he has spent on his foreign trips and did he travel and reside first class on these trips.
I quite agree about the Cuban situation. As a qualified teacher in a practical subject with a record of consistent BGCSE student entries and passes I was replaced despite assurances by the Director of Education by a Cuban who has NEVER taught the subject before and upon informing the Deputy Director of this on arrival in the Bahamas, was told to go and get on with it. . Not only would the Government save on housing, but also the greater salary paid to the foreign teacher as I would have been working past normal retirement age and paid at an hourly rate. Currently there are 4 Cubans at this family island school, why not hire Bahamians and show that you do truly care about the young students. What is the hidden agenda with hiring all these Cubans ???? To be brutally honest most Cuban teachers are here to save large amounts of money, purchase goods not available in Cuba and go back home at the end of their contract with little genuine interest in the students .
Same as local banks when you give them a US cheque it takes (so they say) 30days to clear which we all know is absolute rubbish given communications today. Think of all the interest they make from your money floating in the ether. However don't pay your credit card on time and by magic the computer can penalize you instantly. LIke government, one rule for them and one rule for the public.
