Continued growth in the medical field means cancer. We will continue down this road, just like Kenya just did. Our entire economic paradigm is like magic. Once the magician leaves the room, the magic is over. No matter how many brilliant experts we bring in, the failures remain quite evident. It is important to have people who are good at playing with words, as numbers. Don't worry. All is well here. Our politicians always have the people's best interest at heart. They are excellent money managers and well educated in economics. And, they are honest and never steal or require kickbacks. And, as long as we continue to grow, like the experts tell us we should, we'll have no problems. Rising crime, security systems, increased hospital visits, and other non-productive expenses all contribute to economic growth. So, we should be just fine.
You are asking too many of the right questions. Be careful. The US government is a criminal organization. Didn't you answer a few of your own questions in your comment? It is the tip of the iceberg, and yes yes it goes to the very top of both countries. We have to remember that the political class is only there to work for and shield their rich owners. This is the joke played on us.
We keep looking for political leaders who will do us right. Who will produce them? Will they fall from the sky? This letter to the editor is proof that we will get nowhere in our lifetimes. For the better part of our short history, we have failed our country. It is not just a handful of politicians who have helped themselves, "by reason of employment" in this country. We the people are suffering a deadly disease of dishonesty, lack of integrity, deplorable work ethics, willful ignorance, unChristian behaviour, and an "I do not care" attitude in nearly all aspects of our society, especially within the government. This is a cultural failing that will take decades to resolve, if it is supplanted with good parenting and a government that supported families and our youth. But, we don't.
So, to protect the seagrass beds, The Bahamas would ban all cruise ships? Certainly the talked about money is more than what these cruise ships offer this country, and we must protect our natural resources. However, it seems this country thrives on the booty obtained from doing no work at all. Politics, web shops, holding celebrities hostage, Oban, FTX......................... Yes, it is a scheme. The rich will continue to get richer, and continue to buy up most of this country. Bahamians will soon be unable to live here, displaced by those foreigners who have enough money to buy citizenship to avoid taxes in their own countries. We are more than willing to join the race to the bottom. Even if it means sacrificing our own people, our own country. We seem to delight in schemes that rob the poor and enrich the criminal class.
