Why does The Bahamas, a country of 400,00 people, the size of a city, spend so much money on political delegations to travel the world? While the vast majority of this country's population lives near poverty. One might suggest that a thinking individual would view access to reliable fresh water, reliable electricity, decent internet and phone access, freedom from violent crime, acceptable education, fair taxation, responsible financial behaviour, and a number of other issues which this government cannot seem to get a handle on, perhaps not even understand, would fall under the category of human rights, as well. Our government officials, from top to bottom, appear to have absolutely no concern for the Bahamian people.
Perhaps, instead of listening to the likes of the disgraceful British and US pundits, one should listen to the morally and intellectually superior voice of Jeffery Sachs. He easily puts the US and Britain in their respective places of selfish and brutish foreign policy initiatives and states for the record the wisdom of a true intellectual. Sadly, Mr Young can't hold a candle to the likes of a Jeffrey Sachs. Young is more like a tabloid paper, parroting the talking points of those failures of leadership that have been governing the US and Britain for quite some time now.
I agree. Yet, it is The People who continue to fall for the nonstop lies from these politicians. If Bahamians read the papers, were educated, and able to critically think, we may have a chance. Somehow, since it seems we simply do not care, none of this corruption will cease. Words mean nothing in this country. Absolutely nothing. Further, there are no consequences for bad behaviour of the political, and millionaire class. Just read the papers.
We don't care. We don't care. Look at the PLP top leadership. We just don't care. They take whatever they can. We just don't care. Read these same papers on a daily basis. Read the comments. We just don't care.
Ms. Phillips, Perhaps the government took your advice too far with this Exuma mooring adventure. Most astute people who read the papers have realized that The Bahamas is finished. Only the uneducated disagree.

Great to see that they're donating to the clinic.
Now, how much is being donated to the PLP politicians signing off on the project?

Yup.
We lack investigative and bold journalism.
Rightfully so, given the character of government officials who see no law they need obey.
