There is much written on the power of the media to shape societal values. The only thing I asked my wife when we got married was that we never have a TV in the house. As I both read, and watched the trends of most societies over the last 45 years, I can say with certainty that what has shaped social values is the crap shown on TV and the movies. The desensitization of violence has occurred directly as a result of the gratuitous violence shown on TV and the movies. They call it "programming" for a reason. The media exists to sell things, and only represents the interests of the 1%. The CIA has had operatives in every major media outlet in the US and elsewhere for all of our lives. The "conservatives" in the US have had it wrong from the very beginning, just like they do now. Imagine a Christian actually supporting Trump. It is not intellectually or morally possible. Yet, some still try. Mr. Evans continues to blame others for our abject failures.
Your head is buried in the sand. Should you send your daughter out on the streets to prostitute herself because the family is broke? What's the difference in your thinking? Your statements above are absolutely childish. Or, maybe informed by your job which is based on finding oil.
If the Bahamian authorities cannot help Bahamians get use of their own land, then what are they to do? The stories of neglected Crown Land applications are true. We have a government that seems to work against the Bahamian people. Why do we keep voting these jokers in?
Winners don't need excuses. Bannister is way out of his league in so many ways. His presence costs this country dearly. And, we're paying his salary, on top of it.
There can be no democracy without transparency and accountability. The Bahamas currently has neither. It is an absolute indication that those we elect to office are exactly the wrong ones to be in office. This applies to most all of them. This is sad, but true.
There is, can never be, an excuse for supporting a vile, compulsive lying sociopath. He had admitted on tape that he downplayed the virus, causing thousands of deaths. This alone, should qualify him for the death penalty, not an elected position. I am absolutely amazed that a person could support this jackass and still hold their head up, even admitting it.

I agree 100% with this perspective. Our natural resources and quality of life are too important, and too fragile, to place at risk. Where do I sign?
