Any public official who makes a statement such as this clearly illustrates they have neither the brains or the character to work on behalf of the people.
Sadly, he is not alone.
Those in positions of power here seem to believe that we have elected them to be kings and queens.
They refuse to be held accountable and our country just goes along with this nonsense.
Did we really think our D- educational system would not produce the garbage we see in Bahamian "leadership" and parliament today?

Porcupine says...

Yet, our very smart politicians have gone along with the idea of borrowing and borrowing such that today The Bahamas is paying out 500 - 600 million dollars a year solely to pay the interest on the loans already taken out and spent in this country.
Further, in a so-called Christian society it is rather sad that we do not have the brains to realize that what our banks are doing goes against true Christian teaching.
But, we have been on a race to the bottom, becoming dumbed down with each generation for some time now.
Is there any indication that our "leaders" are thinkers, and truly care about the future of this country? Nope. Just a greedy and slimy bunch of guys who don't want to work for a living.
Does the PLP seem like they really care about The People when they operate in secrecy and our PM says they do not place transparency, accountability and campaign finance reform as priorities, even though this was their campaign promise?
An educated populace would have these PLP jokers out on their asses by the morning.
Education will never improve here for this very reason.
Lawyers are not educated. They are job-trained to manipulate language and to shun the truth. That is why there should never be a lawyer in political office.

The real question should be, "What is the real public cost of not having campaign financing reform?"
Perhaps we all know too well that the country goes to those who donate the most to the PLP.
Wonder why Nygard has not been charged here?
Do you really need an answer?
The PLP knows that if the national IQ goes above 80, they are in for some real trouble.

This signals the breakdown of our democratic system, hrysippus.
It began decades ago, and is culminating with a ruling political, financial who have absolutely no accountability whatsoever.
It took a while to get here.
There is absolutely no accountability for those who commit crimes.
Only the poor, and the connected pay the price.
Politicians and those with enough money simply but there way out of the system.
Is there really someone who does not see this?
Justice is merely a word here. Nothing more. Just a word.
It is not just a few bad apples.
Our nation is steeped in dishonesty, for long time now.
Is there really an argument against this fact?

Anyone, anyone who has ever dealt with a Bahamian government office knows very well we operate under guidelines when typewriters were still in use.
Our mentality and operations are still back in last century.
Look at each new ONLINE rollout.
All done before we have the trained technicians and a uniform procedure.
Listening to a government official defend the backwards mentality of our nation is just icing on the cake of these obvious failures.
It is always the victims fault.

Porcupine says...

Should we really wonder why our kids go off, get educated, see that there are actually decent and honest people out there in this world, and choose not to come back to The Bahamas?
We have failed on so, so many metrics.
We lack even basic honesty.
Our politicians simply can't tell the truth.
Everything is a political game to them.
They are ineffective, uneducated, dishonest, greedy and lawless.
Do these people really a reflection of our society?
Does anyone really read the papers and see what is happening?
There is no truth or honesty in this country.
From the very top to the bottom.
I agree, Mr. Foulkes, this present PLP administration seems to be a criminal organization.
Our they truly a representation of The Bahamas.
The obvious answer troubles me.

Ms. Wallace, you are 100% correct.
The true nature of this country shows through on the streets of Nassau.
A lawless and selfish people we have become.
The older set see more clearly this precipitous change.
All for me. We see it on the pulpit, in political office, anytime someone puts on a uniform, in every government office and certainly when they get behind the wheel of a car.
We have created and fostered this mentality over many decades now.
It can only get worse. We become like those around us.
My advice; get out of Nassau. There is not a shred of decency in that city.
Only people who have never traveled cannot see this reality.
