Actually we had a much smaller budget deficit before VAT. Basically if you give a politician $1 he will spend $2, if you give him $2 he will spend $4 or more!
Mark my words. We are about to see a substantial increase in taxes. 20% VAT, doubling of NIB contributions, and 10% Corporate tax. And this is just the beginning. Unfortunately the Bahamas will have turned from a fiscal paradise to a fiscal hell in only one decade.

I think that we should first take a closer look at reducing the high crime rate in this country. Only 2 murders in the Cayman islands in 2017. That's about the same as in Long Island!

About your comments on Harbour island. Without foreigners the small island would be like Ragged Island. I invite you on your next visit to ask the Brilanders if they would prefer to live on Ragged Island, although I doubt their answer will please you.
The whole world is shutting down oil wells and at the same time in the Bahamas we want to drill for oil? The whole world is moving away from oil with electric vehicles. And some people think we are still in the 70s. Apart from the executives of this company, nobody will benefit from this venture.
