When you are bankrupt you don't get to make choices. In any case the PLP will be happy to blame the IMF for the coming austerity measures...Blaming foreigners for your own failures always works in the Bahamas.
Well the Chinese are the biggest investors in the Bahamas right now. They own the Pointe, Bahamar, Club Med, the Warwick. What do you suggest we do? Tell them to close shop and return to China?
The Hotel in Freeport never made any money. Why would they want to keep it?
And from reading the article it is the Hilton that terminated the agreement. Should Americans not be welcome too?
You really need to crawl from under your rock. Singapore, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Dubai even the Caymans have a very open policy towards expats This is what enabled them to become wealthy. Look at the USA. They dominate the world in technology because they are able to attract the best minds on the planet. There is no country with a protectionist policy that ever became wealthy. That is a fact, and that is why the Bahamas will never be like these countries.
Trying to justify this woman's death because of expats, shows the gutter level of thinking in this country...and some dare to wonder why we are not like Singapore (a city full of expats by the way)?
They are going to "showcased the country’s ...technological offerings"??? What is that, Cable Bahamas, BTC our online school system, our non existent share ride offering???
I don't think that the Bahamas is ahead of Dubai when it come to technology. What do they expect to find? Bedouins living in tents?
