There are three things of paramount importance to Trump:
1. Drugs coming into the USA 2. Illegal immigrants coming into the USA 3. Chinese influence in the region
The appointment of a US ambassador to the Bahamas is a clear signal that these issues will be addressed in the coming months. The Bahamas had better be ready!
The big loser here is the Bahamas.This means that any investor in the Bahamas can be taken to a US court and have their US assets seized. Who would want to invest in the Bahamas with that kind of risk?
The Chinese will want to get out of this 'US court jurisdiction' as soon as possible, given the rapidly deteriorating relationship between China and the US. They have witnessed what has happened to Russian assets in the US. This is probably what the US wants to see with the re-enactment of the Monroe Doctrine (see Trump's attempt to take back the Panama Canal).

It's the passengers of Bahamasair who have had legitimate complaints for quite some time. I suggest you look at the Bahamasair reviews on Tripadvisor. Bahamasair is a national disgrace:
"Corporate greed" at Bahamasair? They have never made a profit. They lose over $20 million a year, which has to be funded by the Bahamian taxpayer. It's the Bahamian taxpayers who should go on strike and let the airline fail!
So far only Democratic Presidents have backlisted the Bahamas and forced us to abandon our banking secrecy which has resulted in many bank closures. Republican Presidents have been much better for the Bahamas
