Yep especially those that rely on breadbasket items, right?

Proguing says...

Yep including breadbasket in VAT, facilitates the life of the wealthy merchant to the detriment of the poor...

Instead of travelling all that way for a photo op with the senile president, why not start here with some measure to reduce pollution in the Bahamas?

I wonder how long it will be functional???

PLP introduced VAT.

FNM excluded items such as breadbasket and medicine to alleviate the suffering of the poor.

Having selective memory again?

Proguing says...

No it’s not.

Example below:

$100 in groceries will now cost $110

$112 doctor bill will now cost $110.

If you add the 10% food inflation that Supervalue is warning about, that will really be $120 groceries bill for the $100 you paid in 2020.

And it's not only the breadbasket items that were exempt, there is also medication, rent, and insurance that you conveniently left out.

What this country needs is for the government to collect due taxes and reduce expenses.

Proguing says...

How is he plugging the hole of the national debt? As a reminded it was the PLP who introduced VAT to pay back the national debt. How did that work out?

Proguing says...

I remember having a discussion with a bigwig of an accounting firm advising the government on the introduction of VAT. He tried to convince me that it was necessary to reduce the national debt….lol
