What kind of people are these who are being allowed onto the Force is the question that needs to be asked. The Force is at its most undisciplined point perhaps in its history. Other Constables are getting fired or getting into problems over the most ridiculous of things or involving the most serious of crimes.
So why are comments permitted for this story? Guess you have to be a politician who is in good with the paper's people or you have to be certain expats (as only certain expats get such shielding). No comments should be permitted for cases involving alleged sexual assault against a minor child, no? Why is this one being allowed?
A funeral was held for a promising young school-aged Bahamian cut down by his peers before his life ever really got started, and the entire story here is about two politicians who attended his funeral. Need I say more about why we are the way we are? Could we not get a story about this young man's life? His family and what they are going through? How the students are coping with this tragedy? How/if they expressed themselves at the funeral and what was shared? Can we actually focus on the life and the person, instead of on politicians who show up to run on then run back to their ivory towers?
Has anyone ever noticed that Mr. Minnis, though a doctor, is never able to put forward any cogent arguments or intellectually sound positions with respect to healthcare matters in this country? Everyone involved in the healthcare industry knows that healthcare declined under Minnis' tenure. Even infant mortality shot back up to disgracefully high levels under him - and he is an OBGYN - how painfully ironic is that? Through this entire NHI melee, he has not been able to lead the way or even set an appreciable pace in relevant, precise, incisive dialog on this matter.
What is Loretta taking this angle for? The PLP has always said it planned to have its convention there. No one needed to reliably inform her of anything; the PLP said it many times over publicly. Why can't she speak to the actual salient issues at play in this Baha Mar crime scene instead of going the trivial route?
