They did vote yes for the first one. Every single PLP in the House and Senate voted yes for the first one. They went outside and told the people to vote no, but they all had already voted yes
For fake IDs it can be an issue yes, but for an election, the card as a shell is not what makes your registration valid upon presentation to the polling station. Each card has a counterfoil with the registrant's photo and information (which Parliamentary registration makes and keeps when they register you), and the person must also be on the voters' register. As for the nonchalant attitude, welcome to The Bahamas!
Come on Rollins, of course someone in the Ingraham administration at that time knew at some stage what was going on. We know your association with Papa but lets be real here. We need to know who the bribe taker was (and it was a man Rollins, didn't you read the indictment?) and we also need to know the reason for decisions taken by the Ingraham administration in this matter.
The theft of the cards and seal is indeed a serious problem, but those cards would not be able to be used in the next general election anyway because voters cards are color coded and the color changes with each new election. And those cards would have a hard time being used even if they call a referendum before the next general election because there would be no corresponding counterfoil or register for those cards, so when the person shows up with the card to vote, it would be recognized as being fraudulent. Where did Minnis get the "hundreds or thousands" of cards story from by the way? Its good that he mentioned the incident itself, but not good that he made the incident out to be far worse than it may have been.
This was a political expediency move and in terms of politics alone, it was a smart move by the PLP, otherwise it would have created a distraction they don't need with all the other mess they have going on. Meanwhile, while the PLP's leader is choosing to keep his party's young professionals in their positions for the sake of politics, the FNM's leader is booting his party's young professionals out of their positions for the sake of idiocy. What a time. Seems that for both parties, young Bahamians simply are tokens of expediency.
Wait a minute. This story does not quote BJ Nottage as saying the Police Force alone failed. His quote was:
> "Last year it was my objective and hope that we could have brought down the number of murders,” Dr Nottage told The Tribune on the sidelines of a Caribbean Nations Security Conference. “We failed, and so I don’t take any comfort in the fact that other crimes are down. I think we really need to get all crimes down and get as close to eliminating as much murders as we can. “The police force can take some credit for the work that they are doing, but as far as I’m concerned there’s a lot of work still to be done."
He said WE failed, being the collective. He did not say the Police Force alone failed. Just what is the Tribune trying to do here with this headline and lead paragraph?

The Tribune made an erroneous analogy in this story. Hunt was directed to resign. Laing and Bannister left on their own. Huge difference.
