> Mr McWeeney said homophobia played a role in the referendum’s failure, along with xenophobia and misogyny.

100% correct!

I'm glad someone made this observation re: Killarney!

As for a disaster waiting to happen, he is actually a disaster in full bloom.

> FREE National Movement Leader Dr Hubert Minnis yesterday called for “international organisations” to chaperone the 2017 general election, as he highlighted a number of “irregularities” that allegedly took place during Tuesday’s gender equality referendum.

AKA, he does not know what the hell to do or what to look for or what the law is or what he should keep an eye on or how to train workers on any of the same - so he expects the US and others do the work that a sovereign nation's officials are responsible for. Does anyone notice that this man has not made one mention of the Opposition's work regarding the Register? This tells you much of what you need to know about what this man knows and understands regarding elections in this country, what is supposed to happen and what the nation's Opposition parties are supposed to be doing in that regard. International observers are not there to do the work that is supposed to be done by officials of sovereign countries.

> which resulted in many persons being denied their fundamental right to cast their ballot

Many like whom? Where are the persons? Which polling divisions did this happen in? The Leader of Opposition cannot make a claim like this to the country and the world with absolutely no evidence presented. Again, he clearly does not understand his role and what is supposed to happen therein.

The media in this country never ceases to enrage me. Why is the media simply accepting this travesty of incomplete vote reporting a full 24 hours after the national poll? Doesn't the media know the law regarding elections in this country?

Publius says...

There will never be enough time to do what the school system is not doing, because that is where national education on the Constitution and related matters is supposed to take place. Politicians love to have an uneducated populace until they need the populace to do something that only an educated populace can accommodate. Other than that, they are pleased as punch to have a majority of people who gleefully refuse to think and simply march to whatever tune their favorite politician strings up.

Because his party is chock full of idiots as well, hence he is fortified.

> this is a sign how backward and uneducated the Bahamian people are.

Absolutely. But these sick politicians rather insist that the issue is just about politics. Bahamians live in a perpetual state of lying to themselves and one another about their collective consciousness and just how backwards it is. Is there any wonder that our young educated people don't want to return, while right-thinking people here want to leave?
