We build a state of the art airport and in no time at all the petty theft Bahamian way of life starts. CCTV footage ''missing". I seem to remember that the same rather puerile excuse was used at the BTC big outage! More to the point what kind of irresponsible behaviour is this from an appointed magistrate? First how is he allowed to carry a firearm on a plane (presumably carry on) and secondly why would ANY traveler leave a bag unattended especially if it contains an item such as a gun. This man is supposed to be able to pass judgement on the guilt or innocence of the Bahamian people that appear before him. He should be fired as he is obviously lacking in the ability to judge right from wrong.
Given the fact that WSC needs $100M and there is going to be more borrowing to finish the road projectt, plus the PM is hell bent on getting his feet back into BTC there is no hope that this government can bring its borrowing under control enough to satisfy the international markets. Then there are all the other election pledges to fulfill! No one can tell me that in a country this size and inter related, the present government did not not know the state of the economy when it was in opposition. That is just not believable given the number of relatives that all members must have in the civil service who would be only too pleased to pass on that kind of information.
All the Bahamian utilities are to blame when the road construction crews cut their pipes cables etc. These utilities do not keep accurate records of where they dug and buried their utilities, so lay off the road crews
Why does Sands need this $3 per gallon advantage. Certainly not because of the cost of transportation to Nassau, after all in another article in this paper Sands seems to think that they are going to take over the Florida market and it must be just as expensive to get the product to market there as it is to send it to Nassau. Surely this disadvantage must have occurred to Sands when they put their business plan together and chose to start up in Freeport. Stop whining it sounds like yet another anti foreign investor rant.
I have just re-read the article and I am quite happy that there is no conflict as he will excuse himself from any debate that involves his partnership's lawyers. I believe him after all he is a lawyer! As there are really only two licensees at the moment, I guess he will not be very busy except with BTC who are his clients competition!1 All very cozy
Okay how come the first chairman was chased out of town because many years ago he had been associated with Cable and Wireless? This association was several years ago not just prior to 1st August 2012. I cannot believe the brazenness of the current regime, oh! sorry I forgot where I was!
I cannot believe the last two comments! The whole of the Bahamas has been and will continue to be built with foreign investors money. Do you think that given the Bahamian history, drug and rum running, piracy and blockade breaking, these investors could leave the investment to be managed without their on the spot input as to how the money should be managed. Slavery indeed!! What rubbish some people talk.
