We now have 'illegal' web shops on just about every street corner with their Bahamian front men tied to organized crime in Vegas and Macau, and Christie has the audacity to try and use the very seeds of crime that he himself has sown in our society, as the basis and justification for turning our country into a military state under his command as the supreme ruler! What a corrupt megalomaniac of an arse Christie is!!

Reality_Check says...

We were betrayed by those business leaders among us who supported the introduction of the horribly regressive and repressive 7.5% VAT. More hard earned taxpayers' money put into the hands of the Christie-led government, which has absolutely no interest in stamping out corruption, is nothing more than pissing away funds that should have remained in the far more efficient and productive private sector.

Yep, the law firms are engaged in a massive fronting exercise for the wealth of their super wealthy clients. Some of the major law firms offshore now have more assets by value under their administration than do some of the more well known offshore financial institutions engaged in private banking and wealth management activities.

Finally Christie admits he has always been and still is entirely clueless about the main reasons why the Baha Mar project is now on the verge of becoming the largest real estate development disaster the Caribbean has ever seen and, indeed, one of the largest development blunders ever seen in the Western Hemisphere. The U.S. and international news media are going to have many a major field day investigating and covering all of the reasons why this project was allowed to get where it is today, thanks in large part to the hands-off lazy style of our Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Perry Christie, who found illegal web shops, a carnival, etc. to be much more suited to his main interests.

The problem my friend is Minnis.....not Ingraham. Minnis is not a politician at heart and certainly is no political leader and never will be one. The people know this and the seeds of discontentment with his political career to date have been planted everywhere. If the FNM leadership does not soon wake up to this fact, they will find all of these seeds sprouting up into a full fledged firestorm of voter discontentment with the FNM in the run up to the next general election. Christie and the PLP will hands down win the next general election if the FNM fails to put forward a new leader 40-55 years of age with the political smarts, charisma, intelligence, ego and fire in the belly desire to lead and make changes for the better of all Bahamians. Minnis is anything but this much needed person no matter how hard he may try to emulate these qualities. He's simply too uncomfortable in his own skin which manifests itself anytime he is required to think quickly on his feet. This is typically indicative of an individual who does not have strong feelings, principles or convictions one way or the other and consequently must spend too much time thinking and worrying about what others may think or say about whatever he has to say. A true political leader is born to the task and can never be trained to it!

You are so right on this point. Ingraham is just as culpable as Christie is for the political and public sector mess the Bahamas finds itself in today. These two dinosaurs (Christie and Ingraham) are from a political era that has long since gone and consequently their way of politics is very much ill-suited, and in fact contrary, to what needs to be achieved or accomplished by the Bahamas politically in today's world for the benefit of generations of Bahamians to come.

If the creation of the Foundation was unlawful as Well_mudda_take_sic points out above, then it stands to reason that it never could have come into existence and therefore, as you say, it does not exist.

VAT revenues are being used to: (1) fund the Social Services Debit Cards that our Social Services Minister Melanie Griffin is handing out to thousands and thousands of Bahamians, including many who should be be considered too well-off to qualify for such welfare support; (2) keep the public sector unions happy through the adding of generous additional benefits to their re-negotiated union agreements (e.g. Bahamasair); (3) grow just about every department of government (e.g. bloated new Central Revenue Agency within the Ministry of Finance and hiring of new regulators to regulate the now 'legal' illicit gambling and other criminal activities of the web shops and their racketeering foreign mobsters and Bahamian front-men); (4) provide senior government officials with new luxury cars and increased generous foreign travel allowances for them and their entourages; and so on and so on. This is the reality of our Christie led spend thrift government and his mouth pieces within the Ministry of Finance (i.e. Halkitis, Rolle, etc.) who quite frankly have never given a damn about our National Debt and Debt to GDP Ratio, other than to use these financial statistics to scare the public into accepting horribly regressive taxes and fees like VAT that put more revenue into the government's coffers to fuel their spend-spend-spend initiatives directed at staying in political office and making themselves and their select elite friends and business cronies filthy rich by graft and corruption.
