The U.S. Government knows the full extent to which the Christie administration (and their politically connected business cronies in the private sector, like Snake) have crossed the line in back-room financial deals of one kind or another. The NSA has listened to all of the right phone calls made by corrupt politicians, other government officials and their private sector business cronies. they know all that has gone on and all that is going on mr. christie, and it's not a pretty picture! All of the corrupt deal making and failed policies of both the Ingraham and Christie administrations have created a perilous drag on our economy thereby causing serious harm to the Bahamian people. The U.S. Government is not the least bit happy with what it knows about our government and rightfully so given our geographical proximity to the U.S.
This bank seems to have become a cookie jar for Christie to send his friends to, and the Central Bank would appear duplicitous by not having changes made to senior management and the board that would result in BOB being free of political interference in its lending activities. If this cannot be accomplished, the bank should be privatized or shut down in an orderly manner. McWeeney should be made to move on, or at least step down from the board so that the management team can have some semblance of independence from a government dominated board that is no doubt responsible for BOB's increasingly perilous financial predicament. its not just the economy causing problems for this bank, and everyone on the street knows it!
If she is nominated by Christie and appointed GG, I suspect many a sufficiently well connected Bahamian will also be writing to senior members of the London press and a number of the London tabloids to tell all Brits about Mrs Ping and her family's embarrassment of the Bahamian people through her attempt to evade payment of her taxes, including reminding the London press and tabloids about the outcome of that Royal Commission of Inquiry as regards her late husband, LOP. Obviously the poor judgement of Christie would feature heavily in such writings, including his coziness with leading known mobsters and racketeers in our country, like Craig Flowers. One can only imagine the stir this will cause. Who knows, it may even become the triggering event for another Commission of Inquiry. Christie (and by extension the Bahamian people) are unfortunately still the butt of a very good London pub joke about the renaming of Nassau International Airport.....let's try not to create another really good London pub joke with Mrs Ping, Christie and the Bahamian people being the butt of it. There's only so much laughter well tanked Londoners deserve to enjoy!
As reported in the May 1, 2002 edition of The Tribune: Both Perry Christie and Hubert Alexander Ingraham were cast out by an angry Sir Lynden. One stood by his principles and refused to go back, the other remained mute until the time came for him to return to the Pindling fold as a Cabinet minister. In answer to a critic’s accusation that by accepting the Cabinet post Mr Christie was like a “dog returning to his vomit”, Mr. Christie said: “For the love, for the emotional support that these people gave me, I will swim in the vomit.” I guess this is why Christie now has no difficulty swimming with the Numbers' Bosses and the likes of Nygard.
We desperately need election campaign funding reform laws as we do the freedom of information laws. Politicians taking money for favours that are not in the interest of the Bahamian people or clearly against the wishes of the Bahamian people (as expressed in a duly held referendum paid for by the Bahamian people) can only be described with one word: bribery!
For those who may be too young to have a full history of our PM's political career, it was none other than Sir Lynden Oscar Pindling who labelled Christie as "Vomit" because of his political treachery to the PLP.
