In simpler and more precise words, Freddie Boy got told by the U.S. Government: "shut up, or else!" But don't worry about Freddie Boy, because as most of us know, he's quite accustomed to carrying his small tail between his legs.

Talk of a minimum wage hike is just one of many controversial subjects Perry Christie has recently ordered be floated in an effort to distract the public's attention away from the three most important matters before us today: (1) Perry Christie's assault on our system of parliamentary democracy by ignoring the will of the Bahamian people as expressed in the recent referendum he instigated at great cost to our Public Treasury; (2) Perry Christie's unwillingness to meaningfully deal with the massively bloated size and inefficiency of our government, including all of its agencies, departments and corporations; and (3) Perry Christie's assault on middle-class and poor Bahamians through the proposed imposition of a severely regressive tax like VAT. Christie would prefer that we talk about any and everything but these three most important matters facing our nation today.....expect him to float many controversial balloons of one kind or another in an effort to have you take your eyes off of the three balls that really count most to our nation at this time. don't fall for his smoke and mirrors antics aimed at attempting to overwhelm the public's ability to focus on the truly important issues before us!

Ah, the scourge of Bahamian realtors.....all they ever seem to care about is: "What near term gain is in it for me?" Little do they realize that the immediate gain, if any, will come at the expense of no gains for many years to come. Their shallow short sightedness does not speak well for the future of our real estate sector.

Most Americans think of the S&P credit rating process in much the same way they think of the credit rating process of the likes of Experian, Transunion, and Equifax. Their business model is designed to screw the poor for the benefit of the few. One only has to look at the track record of the S&P in the decimation of the middle class in American. At the heart of the great recession, these idiots were giving AAA ratings to worthless credit instruments sold to poor and middle class Americans, including their pension schemes. The S&P exists for one reason: to suck dry the poor and middle class for the benefit of the wealthy. Just look at who appointed them God in matters pertaining to credit worthiness! Someone please tell Lisa where to get off!

Ah, now the devil is coming out in the details to this very regressive tax called VAT. There are many more devils not yet identified simply because our economy, culture and overall narrow regressive tax base are very different from the likes of a developed country like New Zealand. We need to broaden our tax base by enforcing existing real property tax laws which are much more progressive (i.e. impact the wealthy more so than the poor) and also by ensuring that foreign owned enterprises (already developed and established), that repatriate abroad much of their profits earned in the Bahamas, pay their fair share of customs duties. our fragile economy cannot take on any new regressive taxes of any kind at this time! All of you out there in the lime light talking about the possibility of some kind of VAT at any level really must wake up and stand opposed. Press our government to: enforce existing tax laws that are much more progressive (like RPT); fully shut down (rather than legalize) the illegal operations of all the numbers' bosses and seize their assets for the Public Treasury; establish a National Lottery to help fund public education; end monopolies of any kind granted by concession; downsize the bloated size of the government sector; stamp out corruption by wrongfully picking winners and losers in our society; and so on.

shut all of the illegal gambling down, seize the assets of the numbers' bosses and incarcerate the bosses themselves for a period of not less than 3 years. Start a National Lottery for the people, the net proceeds from which should be VAT exempt and entirely earmarked by legislation for the sole purpose of providing additional much needed funding to public education. get a decent pair of gonads mr. pm and do the right thing by your people rather than the numbers' bosses!

OK Mr. Cash. Why don't you try help all of us understand the following simple facts, as you would have us believe them:

Your rights got trampled on in a search and seizure raid by the police for no reason;

Your good name and the good name of your wife got smeared in the press for no reason;

Your wife found it necessary to leave a good paying job at bob for no reason;

You found it necessary to strike a deal with BOB through the Courts for no reason;

Notwithstanding these simple facts, you (and your wife) are content to let bygones be bygones and do nothing to seek redress.

come on mr. cash. just how many turnips do think have fallen off of that truck?!

Perhaps more importantly though, it has not escaped the public's attention that since your deal through the Courts with BOB everyone in the FNM from Minnis on down has stopped pressing for the corruption at BOB exposed by the Punch to be properly investigated. It would seem your wings have been clipped but good Mr. Cash, and that you are now a serious political liability for the FNM that must be addressed in short order or the party's funding come general election time will feel the pinch.

As recently pointed out in the House of Assembly by perhaps the most intelligent and reasonable PLP MP sitting today, The Freedom of Information Act was passed by the previous FNM government but has not yet been commenced, and with very good reason. It isn't worth the paper it's written on in terms of the multitude of loop holes that would be available for any government to avoid complying with the most basic of requests for information. The current FOI Act needs to be tossed to the waste bin and a new one drafted from scratch. All of those agitating for the FOI Act as is to be commenced are blindly led blithering fools.
