The fact that Nat Beneby finds nothing wrong with the glaring abuse of power by the PM in the Lightbourne affair tells all of us something important about the character of Beneby himself: He (Beneby) clearly lacks sound judgement himself to the point where he is content to brown nose the PM at any cost! RBC needs to keep a careful eye on their number one Bahamian rep as it would seem his ability to judge right from wrong is seriously impaired! Also, Beneby needs to explain how the mortgage loans of Lightbourne originally granted by RBC managed to migrate themselves so easily to other banks like First Caribbean.
Is it true that the "FYP" in FYP Builders Mall stands for "F_ _ _ You Pinder!" who happens to be FYP's major competitor in the tile business? This fella Mark and the actual majority owner/financial backer of the FYP companies must be quite the characters and certainly not of the kinder gentler Christian variety. Oh well, what goes around usually comes around!
IDB once again telling the world the Bahamas government cannot management its finances (mainly because of personnel competency issues and political interference) and then turning around and placing its lending tit at the lips of that very same PGC led government! The people of the Bahamas need to hold both the PGC led government and the IDB accountable for their mutually shared foolishness when it comes to ruination of the public finances of the Bahamas.
bahamas now a country run by known criminals thanks to pgc and his minion cronies. just look at what all of the illegal drug cartel money-laundering has done to countries like colombia. game over thanks to the likes of the many silent qcs in our country who either are greedy or live in fear.....they are the silent facilitators!
I can't believe this lame duck clucking PM who thinks he's a strutting peacock with full tail up high would have the nerve to say:
“I help hundreds, and please tell them if they have them lined up who need some advice, send them all. Send them all. Let them see that I govern myself with both head and heart and have a day-to-day relationship with the financial community where there is mutual respect and understanding and any involvement on my part is to help the bank, not just the individual.”
He just doesn't understand that decent paying jobs for Bahamians can only come about from a well managed financially disciplined non-corrupt government, one that is capable of formulating and quickly implementing sound economic policies that grow the private sector and minimize the size of the public sector and our National debt. Mr. Christie, if you really want to help your relationship with both needy Bahamians and their bankers, simply roll up your sleeves and put your nose to the grind stone to create an economic environment free of corrupt political cronyism, one where private sector businesses can flourish thereby creating employment opportunities for those Bahamians who have children that need to be fed and educated, light bills and mortgages that need to be paid monthly, real property and other taxes that need to be paid, etc. etc. And if you are not up to the task of properly governing, for whatever reason, then please step aside asap as there is much damage to be repaired from your Junkanoo shuffle style of governance to date, with little time to waste!
Our PM is conveniently silent on the appalling state of our legal system that is perhaps the most serious handicap to stemming our continued loss of ground in the financial services sector to other jurisdictions with superior governments in just about every respect. He is also conveniently silent when it comes to his miserable failure to introduce and properly implement much needed policies to stem the ever increasing illegal immigration and crime. The big players abroad in the global financial services industry who make the key decisions on which countries to set up shop in all now know only too well of PGC's failings as a government leader. The many daft things he has said and done in recent months has many in our financial services sector dusting off their exit plans from the Bahamas. The continued loss of these high paying jobs will be a noose around the neck of hard working honest Bahamians thanks in large part to PGC alone!
Can't help but wonder whether PGC has sent all sitting parliamentarians who owe significant real property tax in arrears to Bank of The Bahamas (BOB) to obtain unsecured loans to pay off their arrears, which loans will eventually be written-off by BOB resulting in more erosion of BOB's capital thereby necessitating an additional capital injection from the people's National Insurance funds. Wow!
I might add that the parties here never intended that UBS would at anytime be receiving from Standard Chartered a loan of $34.2 million that would be secured by the shares issued by the mutual funds concerned. This is essential the substance of the relationship that Standard Chartered is now trying to claim exists.....but does it really have any leg to stand on in doing so?!
