Lets use some realistic numbers: If there are 500 foreign nurses (which is about 20% of the nurses employed by govt.), and the numbers of foreign nurses increased by 25% that number is actually 125; a significant number. And then you have about 30 Bahamian nurses graduating per year. That is about 24 Bahamian nurses graduating from COB nursing program replacing foreign workers. To extrapolate, there are 2500 nurses employed by government, 500 foreign nurses were employed out of that number. This number increased by 125 meaning there are now 625 foreign nurses employed in total, up by 25% from last years numbers. Now, these foreign nurses are given 3 x 3yr contracts (about 10 yrs for ease of calculation), therefore, in 10 yrs, if all Bahamian nurses graduating from COB were hired by govt, that would mean 300 Bahamian nurses replaced the foreign nurses. Not hardly enough to meet the demands which is at a deficit of 325 nursing job to be filled. That is why nurses make so much overtime--there are not enough qualified Bahamian RNs. We need the foreign nurses.
I believe this was a mistake to put a physician as Min of National Security. In connecting criminal activity to the use of drugs and alcohol mitigates responsibility. Sorry, not a true cause. There is evil in this world. Criminality is a reflection of this human behavior.
Okay, How about channelling this force to petition HOA for a anti-terrorist Law/anti-social behaviour law. This is possible people. Let's stay in the moment
See, whenever, we remove party politics from the forefront, what remains are The issues. We can solve this CRIME problem within 6 months. Part of governance includes the citizens lobbying on their OWN behalf.
The % represent the number of unspoiled ballets cast for the respective parties. Evidently, its a different % when counting number of registered voters who were able to vote ( that would THEN include the 9% who did not vote
NSG, believe me, even with this factual table, there is no fighting (or understanding for that matter) ignorance or deliberate misrepresentation of facts by some. Tal, It's impossible to have an honest discussion with you. BTW, If you add the FNM and DNA votes, its represents more that half of the popular vote. Translation: PLP albeit the govt, but a minority govt (by %)
I did a bit of research to find precedence for my proposed Anti-Terrorist Law and found something similar and more applicable to address our crime problems in The Bahamas: In The UK its called The Antisocial Behaviour Act and it really works. With the use of CCTV and local district officers, it addresses, public nuisance, public drunkardness, spray painting, repeated criminal behaviour, illegal weaponry, crack-houses, noise in the neighbourhood. I invite you to visit http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/200… and support my effort to a get similar legislation passed and enforced here
