Anyone asinine enough to believe a vendors' income went from $1,000 to $75 simply because his entire customer base is' "too lazy to walk" is too lazy for rational thought!
Either the vendors are making up stories or there is more underlying reason(s) contributing to the huge decline of business. The majority of a businesses' customer base doesn't just evaporate somewhere for frivolous reasons.
This sounds like another nightmare and is typical of so-called "powers that be" that make decisions without consulting people on the ground that will be affected.
The police are only carrying out orders. It is the genius idiot at the top that made the no parking decision without any criteria other than he "thought" it would be a nice idea.
The Bahamas must follow the Dominican Republics' and President Donald Trumps lead and tell these clowns, the United Nations, the OAS, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights and everybody else that we are a sovereign nation doing what **we decide** is in the best interest of the Bahamas and Bahamians!
Haiti and Haitians do absolutely nothing positive for the Bahamas and Bahamians. They are an unsustainable drain on our country that must be untethered or the Bahamas will quickly end up in the same poor state as Haiti.
@ BahamaPundit....Very, very, well said sir! Successive governments blatantly perpetrated and even encouraged illegal Haitians to invade our country by rewarding them financially with taxpayers' money without taxpayers' approval to the detriment of Bahamians.
Now that we face this dilemma orchestrated by them, these same double-talking, jack-leg, politicians are calling Bahamians racist and xenophobic for being patriotic because they themselves are also of Haitian origin!
The solution is to firstly identify the "cowardly hiding" politicians that created this mess in the first place and hold them accountable. Secondly, get rid of ALL the politicians and form two new parties devoid of ANYONE with Haitian origins.
There are no Haitian politicians with Bahamian origins and there shouldn't be any Bahamian politicians with Haitian origins!
Finance Minister Peter Turnquest can play the dumb mouse card as long as he likes, but he still has to face the reality that beyond the remediation of those Islands infrastructure, the country has no choice but to seriously and immediately address the illegal immigrant problem nationwide before another "Dorian" like scenario plays out in Nassau, Eleuthera, Harbour Island, Andros, Exuma, and any Island where illegals have developed shanty-towns.
Rescue, housing, recovery, and restoration phases would not have been such a massive undertaking for the government had the country not had shanty-towns and more illegals to deal with than legal residents.
An equitable portion of any loan should be earmarked for illegal immigrant apprehension, housing, medical and repatriation. Turnquest needs to clarify how these loans help to eliminate the illegals component.
Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. The Haitian community continues laughing at these saber-rattling clowns.
The Dominican Republic also tried dealing with illegal Haitians "humanely" for decades without an ounce of success! Haitians simply **will not** willingly abide by a countries immigration or any other laws. It is no secret that Haiti is mainly devoid of law and order, it is their culture, so why would we or any country expect Haitians to suddenly care about its' laws?
Carl Bethel and the government failed lip service act is way, way, too passe`! We've heard this "go home" mantra so often that we now join the Haitians in laughing at these jokers!
One thing for certain. We the people **WILL** vote these do-nothings out just as we voted out all the rest, and the plp is not the answer. We need two new parties.
Fred Mitchell finally said something that makes sense. However, he still doesn't have the gravitas to come to grips with the fact that illegal Haitian shantytowns existing in Nassau, Eleuthera, Harbour Island, Exuma, Andros, and anywhere else in the country should be immediately addressed before the next hurricane or GOD forbid other disasters stricks, leaving taxpayers with the overwhelming burden of responsibility of caring for illegals!
The government has to be proactive in this regard posthaste. There is no time for sitting around talking the usual dead-end political stupidity.
**OMG** more blah, blah, blah, blah. The Bahamas have always been a piracy based jurisdiction and it will remain so until Jesus himself comes as ruler!
DPM Turnquest can rattle sabers, talk sugar and spice until all the illegal Haitians in the Bahamas start paying taxes and leave voluntarily, but nothing is going to change the deeply ingrained "culture" of under the table wheeling and dealing here.
Turnquest can stop this asinine righteous act which only fools himself, and face the simple fact that both FNM and PLP finding the implementation of a Freedom Of Information Act a major impediment only confirms that corruption and graft are abundantly and equally rife in both parties!
