branville McCartney is obviously still suffering post-traumatic stress disorder after a crushing defeat at the polls.
If he truly believes "the election results were as much an outright rejection of the DNA under his leadership as it was a simple reflection of the powerful two-party dynamics in the country that gives little space to third parties", then he is hopelessly lost and still totally out of touch with the electorate.
The DNA lost relevance when the electorate discovered by Branville's actions and refusal to "listen to his supporters" that he was another pig-headed dictator as Hubert Ingraham and Perry Christie by being totally unreasonable in negotiations with then Dr. Minnis to form a coalition. This, coupled with the awfully disastrous advice Bran followed to join Loretta Butler and the FNM oligarchy in an asinine coup attempt to destroy Dr. Minnis led to the demise of the DNA.
That being said, Branville McCartney is to be highly congratulated for his efforts in forming, leading the DNA and the hard work it took to take the party to an impressive campaign in 2012 which was way ahead in all the polls 2 months prior to the election, but was mainly derailed when the PLP came up with the "we believe in Bahamians" and "Bahamians first" campaign slogans.
Contrary to Bran's thoughts that "the powerful two-party dynamics in the country that gives little space to third parties", PM Sheriff Minnis proved without any doubt the country was in dire thirst for a third party, which this NEW FNM administration actually is!
The DNA is now in a perfect position to contest 2022 with all newcomers, as nobody with sense is willing to take a chance going backward with the PLP after the stunt they pulled regurgitating PLP rejects AFTER winning 2012 elections.
Branville McCartney remains very useful to the DNA. Taking a back seat in the party is where he belongs.
"Then Prime Minister Perry Christie was adamant his government had checks and balances in place to handle the $150m loan".....Obviously Perry Christie's reference to having "checks and balances in place" were checks drawn to handle and benefit balances of ghost accounts!
Perry Christie and Michael Halkitis must be held 100% accountable for these funds!
Tourism Minister Dionisio D‘Aguilar is on the right track with his focus to increasing GDP by targeting a larger % of cruise passenger spend and encouraging Bahamians to get into the shore excursion business.
D‘Aguilar confirmed Aruba's(?) cruise passenger spend is more than $400.00 above that of the Bahamas!
What he should also do to is assist potential local investors to identify available opportunities in the resort shore excursion business, and there is no need to reinvent the wheel to do so. Simply study what Aruba and other high yielding resort spend destinations are offering and duplicate those businesses in the Bahamas.
Example, Aruba offers no less than 13 live dinner shows. The Bahamas has none!
Looking back to when the Bahamas was a "real" sun fun resort destination and what we offered then, would be the first step, while simultaneously looking at Aruba and other's resort activities, for instance, is the simplest solution to finding our way bay to relevance as a sun fun resort destination.
The Bahamas has a LOT of work to do to regain a solid position in the resort destination business after decades of failed leadership and neglect in the tourism sector. The good news is, we have done it before, *already have the passenger volume,* and we have an absolutely awesome opportunity to "cherry pick" shore excursions that have proven most successful from competing regional destinations and implementing them here.
If this **"act of terrorism"** had happened at Atlantis or anywhere in the Bahamas, without question, the U.S. embassy would have immediately issued stern travel alerts to the Bahamas.
Where are the travel alerts on Las Vegas, Chicago, and other U.S. cities where atrocities against people of color have commonly taken place? Not a single word or insinuation from the embassy or Bahamas government?
The "Donald Trump slump" has already caused major declines in the Caribbean and other nationals travel to the U.S. I certainly no longer feel welcomed or comfortable taking my family to vacation in the U.S. and have not for more than 10 years after being totally insulted and humiliated by a so-called "U.S. border agent".
Trump simply justifies many Caribbean people decision not to travel to the U.S. for shopping and vacationing. The Las Vegas saga could easily have happened anytime, anywhere in the U.S. and they would NEVER issue travel warnings on themselves!
America is forced into quickly beginning to understand there are many other destinations Caribbean nationals could and do spend their money, choose for shopping and vacationing that is better, cheaper, safer and much more palatable than the U.S.A.
The Bahamas prime proximity to the Caribbean must be capitalized upon as a shopping and travel mecca for Caribbean nationals.

Former PM Hubert Alexander Ingraham is 100% Haitian and clearly demonstrated who he considers 1st in the Bahamas after Haiti's 2010 earthquake and Freeports financial meltdown when he told Bahamians to ignore the plight of homeless Bahamians living on the beach and in cars and told Bahamians to send all donations to Haiti's earthquake victims instead. Perry Gladston Christie also has Haitian roots.
In fact, PM Sheriff Minnis is the first "real Bahamian" to serve as Prime Minister.
It's no wonder Haitians are the most fiscally upward moving ethnic grouping in the Bahamas today!
