Firstly, the cruise industries tee-shirt tourists are not the clientele Spanish Wells or Harbour Island cater to or want to develop.
Secondly, regardless of them saying only 100 people would be allowed on the island at any given time, who will police this? 100 people on Spanish Wells would cause islandwide congestion. The cruise industry has a bad reputation for doing whatever they want whenever they want, and successive lousy governments seem to be spellbound to accept any request they make.
Nassau would be better off with 25% more overnight visitors and 90% fewer cruise passengers!
Key West Florida, Cayman Islands and several more previously busy cruise ship destinations have told the cruise industry they are not welcomed back, while the Bahamas is doubling down on stupid again!
Former cruise hot spots found it more profitable to increase stayovers and less environmentally damaging without cruise ships and their 1000's of biggety, T-shirt buying passengers and greedy cruise companies.
Why are we always doing the exact opposite of what we should be doing?
It is easy to imagine sometime in the near future Perry Gladstone Christie and his top henchmen including Judge Winder finding themselves obligated to answering some very tough insomnia-causing questions in the U.S. Supreme court!
