When did the issue of Shantytowns become about "status"? I always thought that it was about a series of illegally constructed dwelling places which were in violation of the building codes of The Bahamas. We need to focus on the issue at hand and not mix it with other issues. That is why we are in the mess we are in today. Focus Bahamas........FOCUS!

These folks are amazing! Our education system is top notch! Where else in the world can a country's education system so successfully disenfranchise its citizens from the country in which they are citizens? Think about the abovementioned remarks by the Minister and consider the simple basic fact that our children cant swim! Giving birth is always easier than raising the dead, so when is this Minister going to charge his colleague who is responsible for the ongoing education enterprise which consume more than 1/3 of the government's budget, "when you ga teach de hildren to swim?"

Until then, rhetoric..... nothing but more empty rhetoric!

I once heard a US Congressman addressing some Latinos from Juarez Mexico who had moved to the US. His words were quite simple and to the point. He told them that if they live in this country, the way they lived in their country, then very soon this country will look like theirs.

Likewise to all who choose here to live, no matter of country of origin, but especially to those who try to justify shatytowns. If you choose to live like you did in your country, then soon our country will look like your country!
