The reason why most people are focusing on Minnis and Pintard is because its shocking to see how an obvious attempt by them to embarrass the PLP was so terribly thought out.
Like the saying says, the cover up is often worse than the crime.
After reading what Dr Minnis had to say, I think it would have been better had he not said anything.
It's clear that Dr Minnis had a relationship with "Toogie" even before the murder plot was conceived. Like a previous poster said, Minnis didnt think it would come out.
If what was leaked lead to Pintard's resignation, then Minnis must follow suit as well.
The issue isnt the squatting, the issue is the removal of the persons affected was not handled the best way. Thats the point John is trying to make, and it is a valid one.
I totally agree with you. The government may not be going about it the right way, but lets not act as if the insurance companies are looking out for the average person.
We saw the same exact arguments played out when Obama tried to implement his version of NHI and his version was watered down. Perry is actually trying to do what Obama wanted to do, a public option, but couldn't do it because of the insurance companies, his political opposition and yes, the media.
I'm just hoping calmer heads prevail and we end up with something that is good for the people.
I dont know why people are surprised. If any of us was in his situation, we would do the same thing. Papa put his people in place, Perry put his people in place, Pindling put his people in place. Thats how it works. If you dont, you will be restlessly undermined by those wanting the position you hold.
Just because he switched his tune doesn't mean what he is saying isnt true. The reality is the implementation of VAT was not the disaster it was initially panned to be. The Bahamas does have one of the lowest, if not the lowest VAT rate in the world. Some countries have VAT rates over 25%. And he is telling the truth when he says filing the returns is pretty simple.
I dont get the local retailers. its pure stubbornness. Their mark ups does not have to be as high as it is and there is no real reason for it other than greed.
It seems many would rather go out of business before they adjust their prices.
So the private sector gets all the credit aye? All bad affects of the roll out your quick to point fingers at the government, and anything positive your quick to give the private sector the praise.
