I guess this guy can look forward to a maximum of 2.5 years imprisonment if he pleads guilty. This number is based on the recent conviction of the man who raped/molested his two young children and only got 5 years for both.
This is disturbing and disgusting. How could the prosecution even put the 3 year suggestion out there? And how could a judge agree to it. My lord we are morally corrupt. That's only 1.5 years of punishment for each child. Hopefully this man can never be allowed to be alone with or even see these children again EVER!!! After prison he should go to Sandilands to live out the rest of his life. NEVER let him walk the streets freely again.
Good question. 21 years seems to be a very short time for what appears to be a substantial development. The agreement must have some options to extend at the developers request.
This wouldn't be as horrible if we knew this additional revenue would go to good use - like reducing our debt. But to know that this government is only doing this in order to give more and bigger contracts to friends is insulting and offensive.
Paying more taxes does not help or improve our country.
On a positive note though, I am very happy to see the numbers criminals investing their money back into the Bahamas and creating middle to upper class housing communities and boutique hotels. BIG Kudos to them. It is VERY unfortunate that the white nights never created boutique hotels. We could have and should have several Bahamian owned boutique hotels on every major island. This would have created a solid economic base around which communities could have been built and sustained.
