The one major problem we have is corruption. If any government seriously decides to deal with that then we are more than half the way home. We will have 100's of millions of dollar left over each year to get the country back on track OR to reduce the tax burden.
I will be happy to hear the PLP say very clearly "We will mark our 50th anniversary with a pledge to stop corruption for a year". That's a big ask but it would help our economy and the people if they would resist for a year.
So... we saw this coming and did what exactly? We see NIB imploding and we are doing what exactly? We saw education imploding around 30 years ago and we did what exactly?
I'm actually astonished that this is coming out of his mouth. Good for him from addressing this issue. Hopefully some positive changes and action comes from this.
I took my kids (girls) there a couple of years back and had to apologize to them as I had sold it how i remembered it - beautiful and fun. Unfortunately, I had to reverse out of no less than three corners downtown as there were just too many males loitering in the streets, in the middle of the day, for me to risk driving down them. Needless to say we haven't been back as there are too many other peaceful and beautiful islands to visit. I hope the island gets its charm back and limits the number of... let's say, workers living in deplorable close quarters.
They aren't now because the PLP are in power. Let's chat in 5 years when the FNM are back in and crime is still high. You'll be the first shouting incompetence and for resignations.
Unfortunately Mr. Bell will be leaving his post before a significant and meaningful deportation exercise will occur. No government is willing to tackle this issue. In this instance we need Trump to come and sort out this ongoing mess.
Before Christmas a friend of mine had to wait more than 27 hours with his 92 year old mother sitting in a chair in the hallway before she could get a bed. They don't have cots for the very old and the extremely ill? This level of disrepair and complete failure of our health care system is no surprise. Here you need to have your own dialysis machine, ventilator, blood pressure monitors and IV's if you wish to live.
