The local judges will undoubtedly make a mockery of this in their final judgement and it will have to end up at the privy council in order to get any sensible judgment either way.

45 days??? These un-regulated communities will have paved roads, BPL hookup and a church within 45 days. And then what? police need to keep a constant lookout for any construction and stop it if there is no permit number visible - and the permit number can be verified with a single phone call.
If the building cannot be verified then a gov't bulldozer is immediately called in and the construction is demolished. Any contractor/worker on property is taken into custody while an investigation is mounted.
You do this a few times and you can bet contractors and laborers will not go anywhere near a site that doesn't have a permit.

This was a bad kid who pulled a gun. Justice served.
As long as the police don't shoot good people. So far I haven't heard of any good people being shot by police.

Educate. We've failed at that for 50 years. Face it the vast majority of Bahamians are ignorant AND they lack any common sense.
It is what it is.
When my kids were 8ish and we took them to soccer camps on the weekends around 8am, the big fat kids ALWAYS showed up with a super sized soda and the wrapper of some fast food sandwich in hand and with lips to straw. The expat kids were fed before they left the house and had a super sized bottle of water in hand. Who performed better on the field? Not us.

The police are going to act quickly.... as soon as this insane boyfriend kills her. Until then? Just a domestic dispute.

Although, in accordance with the law, once she filed her complaint the police should arrest the man and take him into custody. Have the police arrested him yet? No? Why not?

So... fat people are the biggest burden on our healthcare? Sounds about right!

The blacklisting and attack on our finance industry is simply a tool used to lessen our diversification of income generation. If we were a huge grower of grain then you had better believe that we would be attacked on that front as well. Our grain would be found to be of poor quality and supported by human rights violations etc. etc.
We will simply not be allowed to be a power house of anything - not even tourism, as it would make us too independent and less needy of the mechanisms and organizations (i.e. money) created by the G7.

PLP priorities: Contracts, Travel. And then way down the line - foreign obligations.

Our PM's response now goes something like this... They were serious about that?
