I think the idea was good and the potential is there, but I agree, we need to now see the numbers as this may very well be a losing proposition in direct spend. Hopefully, with the 'free' advertising, it works out in our favor. We need to know.

I agree! Our magistrates and judges need to direction as well. They are far too lenient (and I dare say 'Christian').

I agree! Harsher penalties are required. These small fines only give criminals incentive to steal more.
Andrew, perhaps you can shed some light on the ridiculous 'concurrent' sentences as well?? I can see the reasoning behind a concurrent sentence if a murderer shoots one shot and it happens to wound a second individual by mistake. But for someone to break into a house, rape one person, shoot another and then steal a car to get away, I am of the opinion that these are distinct, considered acts that should run consecutively - even if they happened during the same robbery. My point being that a robber would just break into a home, get what he can get, and then flee. A serious criminal takes things to the next level when given an opportunity and should be punished MUCH more severely.

*Bishop Hanchell added: “This Bill will negatively affect all charitable organisations, foundations, sporting groups, civic groups, churches and NGOs (non-governmental organisations) throughout the country.
“The Bill in question will not only regulate NPOs, but will allow the Government to control churches and other non-profit entities while frustrating and demoralising their efforts. The Bill in its present form may cause some organizations to close or wind up their affairs.
“We are still trying to determine the true purpose of this bill. Is the NPO Bill a part of the United Nations’ agenda in establishing a one-world government? s this a plot to destabilise the sovereignty of the Bahamas?”*

We need stricter dress codes for public places as well. These gay guys walking around with their pants below their glory holes need to be put back in prison.

Unfortunately some lawyer will find a police blunder when these guys are found and sent to trial, and will be so proud of himself for getting these guys off. I hate criminals and wish more than anything that there was no law to 'protect' criminals, only laws to punish them. Even if these guys were caught in the act with video evidence to boot, they would probably be out in 15 years. Not only should these guys be put down but our laws should clearly state that the victim's family can choose how they are put down - starvation, fire, stoning, firing squad and hanging come immediately to mind.

Sad. But even sadder is our legal system. Whether you kill 1, 2 or 3 people, or kill 1, rape another and burn their house down, our courts will only punish you for **one** crime under the guise of 'concurrently'! When sentences run concurrently there is only one punishment for a single crime spree. So, the message I hear is... if you're going to rob a bank take advantage of our system and steal a car as well and rob the jewelry store next door and hold some hostages because any extra harm and damage that you do during this spree is a free-bee. sickening!!!

How religion ever got a foothold in politics and our constitution is beyond me. And how church's always ask for special treatment and want to push their beliefs on others is sickening! Church's need to be overly scrutinized because we all know that many sick individuals hold high positions in them.

Most of those asinine decision makers are affiliated to a particular political party. Those people will cause such an uproar when their borrowing for shopping trips comes to an end that they will protest and 'that political party' will basically direct the Credit Bureau and the banks to ease up 'for the benefit of our economy'.
