I've actually never thought that there was a tax on clothing. I always buy my clothes abroad and would never think about declaring and paying duty on new stuff that I've worn on the trip. I always thought that the selection locally was dismal because of lack of effort, but now I realize that it's dismal because these shops are the only people paying duty on clothes. I'm now surprised there are ANY clothing stores in The Bahamas. Not for much longer I guess!!!
This story is very disturbing to say the least. This department had better find some much needed common sense real soon. Charging back taxes on a current value - seriously!!!! Valuing property at $200,000 when it can't even be sold for $60,000 - stupidity!!!!
Even though most of our courier planes and shipping vessels go to Florida almost empty, I imagine that if you did set up shop here and start selling/shipping goods overseas, our shipping companies and courier companies would not give you much of good deal on price.
My water smells like it was pumped fresh out of a lake. My hair gets more matted each time I try to wash it. I'm sure I got some tadpole eggs up there somewhere.
Interesting response Birdie. You really don't think corruption was a major issue under the last reign of the PLP? Hundred's of millions cannot be accounted for and you don't think that things were a mess? Wow!!!! You must live a cardboard box on someone else's and have NO clue what it going on around you.
