So now it looks like we are protecting SBF by 1) not agreeing to further charges and 2) not even starting legal proceedings here. Plus we don't even have campaign contribution laws on our books, and probably never will, thereby attracting these sorts of shady characters to our shores.
We are ending up looking even worse than SBF. Shameful.

None of our political parties are in any rush to implement this. Governing parties do not like to be investigated. And neither do former governing parties. This club protects its own.

I think that we can now stop with the niceties of considering ourselves domicile and friendly as this only applies to Bahamians dealing with tourists. When dealing with fellow Bahamians we are in fact angry a bitter and prone to violence above all else. Christianity and the fear of God is a very distant 2nd - at best!

What's the definition of a 'casual worker'? Was the word casual made up by the reporter or is the word somehow official in our labour laws? Surely it's mandated somewhere that any worker has to be covered in order to work in a shipyard??? Even if not officially covered then whoever employed him takes responsibility for any injuries... DUH!!

I agree in part. However, what really concerns me is that no matter what safeguards or oversight measures or 4 eyes principals are put in place by either party, these can simply be ignored and/or reversed by the next government. The questions is when then do we create these committees and various legal frameworks? The current party's supporters, and it appears that most of the country, simply don't care if the party in power has any fiscal responsibility.
Can we mandate that the courts HAVE to hold people to account? I doubt it, as surely that mandate can also be changed by a corrupt government.

Wasn't Fox an human trafficker? I wonder how he settled that case in the U.S.?

Sad. Cheaper she lives in Jamaica, where it's safe.

I've run red lights in front of police and they haven't done anything. They're easy too busy on the phone, or they're checking out some gal walking past or it's lunch time and they got places to go.

If there was prize money involved then you know why they picked who they picked. The Bahamas isn't a real place.

To be fair Birdie, Neil is reporting on, and quoting the IDB report, he's not making up figures. Also, he's not bashing any government he's quoting the report. So... relax.
