Someone posted elsewhere in this journal while commenting on IMF tax suggestions, why they never tell you how to grow income. They don’t read all the newspaper eh? Eeen that exactly what this article saying?

Socrates says...

You can listen to IMF now or follow instructions later. Plenty financially failed states ahead of us, many in the Caribbean. They have seen this movie before. Don’t blame the messenger because you don’t like the message.

This is the problem with socialism, why should the State decide how much return you should earn on your investment? There has to be something wrong with thst.
Do they tell people how much to sell their car for when they want to change it?

Socrates says...

Socialist economic policies are a failure. gov't needs to let competition decide the price. To avoid price setting collusion, set a penalty of $100k everytime evidence is discovered.

3rd world developing states are too fragile economically to have Trade Unions who formulate their demands and expectations on 1st world standards. the government boasts of all the industrial agreements signed, meaning they gave away the shop. yet, as this proves, the unions are never satisfied. we need to let them bring the country to its knees then start over again.

wouldn't these agricultural type imports be gassed with insecticide before leaving point of origin knowing the potential for this kind of thing? it also now raises the question of anti -venom in the country. we also know FL has a python problem. what are we doing proactively to minimize that snake showing up here?

i agree with PM that its long standing issue. he speaks of money being spent to keep people on the island or to encourage then to return. however, the very statistics he refers too proves that money is not having the desired effect and therefore one must ask should it be spent where people are and therefore where it will be most impactful?

one would have to be a textbook dunce to not see how the play with statistics in recent times has fooled so many. if one person visits my shop this week and 2 come next week, thats a 100% improvement for sure, but it wont keep me in business.
